by Christoper Petit on I'm not going to lay down esoteric comments about a cheesesteak since it's not a pretentious food. I'm a Philly native that had never had the Geno's experience. Shameful as it may be, I've finally joined the club. In short: Delicious, soft bread layered with thin slices of steak, whiz, and chopped onions. The perfect "junk" food for a cold Saturday. The line moved quickly and we managed to avoid getting yelled at by putting our order in correctly. I didn't think the fries were anything special - good, but I'd probably skip them next time. I was surprised at how much I like the mix of flavors considering whiz just seems disgusting on any other food. I can see why these steaks are the cuisine of choice for tipsy college kids.
by Hubert Baynard on It's weird to realize that there is a place that I visit every week without fail, and feel incomplete without, but have no idea what to say about it---whether in a Rateclub review or to friends unfamiliar with The EndUp Experience. I'm not sure what it is about this place. It ain't pretty (except for the courtyard, with landscaping done by my fave coat check guy), it ain't cheap, it ain't swank in any regard whatsoever, but the music and the people keep me coming back. It's like a little microcosm of the oddities of San Francisco; the occasional wary straight guy will whisper, "is this a gay club?" Oh honey. It has its good and bad. The lifesaving fireplaces and porch heaters are brought down by the elementary-school-esque nasty bathrooms. The loads of friendly, welcoming, fun regular characters are brought down by the occasional creep (though security is very present and responsive if you have a problem). The occasional boring tweaker beats are forgiven due to otherwise seriously quality djs and a sound system that will lure you into a trance without need of chemical aids. Come with friends, be prepared to make more of them by the time the night (or day) is over; don't be pretentious, dance with everyone; DO buy things from the Peachy's Puff girl; bring your sunglasses and communally curse the sunlight when it arrives after a full night here, or embrace it with a cocktail for breakfast in hand.
by Kimberly M. on Here goes my first 1star... had a few tables with my Nascar peeps.. IVE never been to a club.. had tables... where the waitress was such a horrid excuse for representing! I loved this club until, my 2nd time there ... AND then I just cant shake it... NOR could we if we wanted to... it was overcrowded.. the restrooms were crowded and a mess.. BUT the waitress.. she just should take all the credit for this rating.. She let the bottles go .. the mixers would be gone.. we would want more service.. this girl was no where around.. and while the boys talked the biz.. one of us girls decided to ask her to restock.. she rolled her eyes.. and huffed off.. We ended up going to the bar and getting what we needed sent over.. by someone else.. Marquee=BIG giant Fail..
