Over it. There is quite a bit of good sushi here in Philly.  We are even luckier that  even more really good asian cuisine abounds. With that in mind give Pod a miss. First of the place is way, way over the top.  Moreover, it seems like time has aged what  was once perhaps a flashy nouveau-outer-space electric Tokyo punk themed dining experience into something less fun, less interesting and somewhat passé. I mean there were a number of weird moves happening. Japanese cartoons playing on the wall, ala carte sushi conveyor belt, weird neon lights, and bathrooms that looked like out houses on acid, all worked in concert to create a strange and contrived vibe. Seriously, you can skip this, trust me. . . I mean, I like Daft Punk as much as the next guy, maybe even a bit more, but not while I'm making conversation over some spicy tuna rolls and a martini. The fish is good and the rolls are well made.  But, you can find that pretty much any where.  Why pay through the nose for fare that can be found elsewhere and for a cheaper price.  Oh and apparently it was birthday night because every ten minutes or so someone would let fly another raucous happy birthday ditty and scream.  That really added to the ambiance. Swing and a miss Steve.  Next time I want sushi, I'll be at Vic's.

I've come here after Decompression and just this weekend I came out here for the Stompy/Sunset party. Cafe Cocomo is an impressive venue. They have a picturesque front outdoor area - with lush green plants and plenty of seating room - as well as a convenient upper patio area - for smoking and star gazing. Inside - is a spacious (at least for San Francisco) - dance floor, a good sound system, and there's even an upper dance area as well. My favorite part of this space are the comfortable brown couches on the upper level - which are perfect for sinking into - after a long crazy dance fest. The staff here are also very genuine and personable - which usually speaks for good management and kind owners. This place can be hard to get to - if you don't have a car, but with it's famous salsa nights and unique outdoor areas - it easily becomes a destination spot, and if you do have a car - parking should be no problem. I've only been here for one-off events - so can't speak to Cafe Cocomo as a regular dance spot - but as far as the events I have come here for  - I loved how adaptable Cafe Cocomo was as a venue and after each visit - I left with exhausted legs from dancing  - as well as a big tired smile. Trust.

Marquee, oh Marquee.  I like you a tad better than Cain. Having had the most irritating experience at Cain, we bounced over to Marquee where our other friends were at.  Long lines filled with douche bag guys trying to get laid and trampy looking girls trying to play hard to get...oh boy, I was so excited to get in! NOT. Luckily we had friends who knew someone who knew someone (you know how that story goes) and literally in minutes we were in front and walking in.  Thanks friend of a friend! *high five* I walked in and it's jammed pack.  I mean, what did I expect?  It was a Saturday night, right?  I walked upstairs to meet up with everyone and it was pandemonium everywhere.  Bathroom lines nearing the staircase, girls gyrating on boys, laughter, drinks being spilled, profanity being said.  Damnit, I need a drink! So I go. Did you know they add on 20% gratuity for every drink you order? *jaw drop*
