The inside of this place was completely not what I expected. I thought I was going to a hole-in-the-wall. This place is a stand-alone building and spacious. It has a full size bar and a ton of TVs surrounding the bar area. I definitely didn't feel like I was walking into a Greek restaurant. We orderd calamari to share, which didn't have much taste to it. I also ordered the gyro wrap, which tasted like a normal gyro wrap. There was nothing really outstanding about anything we ordered, but I should have ordered something a little more unique. The server recommended the chicken kebobs, which I would go back and try and perhaps listen to her suggestion this time. Or, if you go, you can order the chicken kebobs and let me know how it is. I like to think that this place has potential and I would try it again and order something more unique. I will update this review if I ever make it back there....but for now, it gets 2 stars.

If you're in Boston and in need of a NYC fix...just a taste, Middlesex Lounge it is. As the intersection of diversity and kickin' tunes brought to you by a collection of talented DJs, Middlesex has a little something for everyone. Check out their website http://www.middlesexlo... before you go to match the night of the week with your mood for music. Saturday nights with DJ Kon is a must try, especially when he spins classic R&B. By 11:30pm, the place is packed and the crowd just gives in to dancing with whomever is closest to them. Be sure to get there before 10pm on weekends to avoid "the line"...really - the place fills up quickly and it's better to resist your propensity for a "big entrance" in favor of finding your groove early on with everyone else who is "in the know" of the understated lounge's popularity. Major props to Bob, one of Middlesex's regular bartenders, whose eagle eyes and photographic memory makes him the absolute most attentive bartender this bargoer has ever experienced. Bob has a natural talent for treating his customers in a way that makes them want to come back. With weeks in between my return visits, he has my Kettle One & Sugar Free Red Bull ready on my approach to the bar. It's insanely impressive. The combination of the vibe, people, music, and service makes this my all time favorite spot to hang out and let loose. I wish the owners would open a second one in the actual city of Boston (as opposed to Cambridge) and have Bob transfer over as an example to how bartending is done in a way that fosters repeat customers - he's the best there is.

I remember being so excited when I caught wind of Rosa Mexicano's opening here in Atlanta a few years back. I used to live in NYC, and the two left me with many memories. Unfortunately, like many things that expand out, they lose the attention to detail, and the quality goes to shit. The guacamole used to be the star item on the menu to get. It was always fresh table-side, and made-to-order. Well on our last trip here, we sat at the bar area, and the guacamole we received was made away from us, and not to order. And to top it off, it was bland... Blech. The plantains we ordered were just okay, as was my margarita... Far too expensive for what you get... Certainly falling further and further away from the mark they set for me a long time ago in NYC; and sadly they're even off their own mark from a few years back when they first opened here.
