by G W. on In short: for a very reasonable price you'll eat very good food in a nice dining atmosphere with friendly service. We started with the vegetarian steamed spring rolls which came with a delicious peanut sauce. Then I had the friend tofu over vegetables with a sweet and sour sauce which was a huge platter (very filling). There weren't too many vegetarian options (maybe three different entrees), but they seemed flexible about doing the other platters without meat or shrimp, etc, if asked. I was impressed with the decor and service for most Vietnamese restaurants in this area, and for the price you can't beat the food. I also accidentally left my credit card there overnight, and when I recovered it the next day there weren't any plasma screen TV charges on my account, so I remain a happy customer.
by jake r. on We went to KoKo's for DYL this Friday. Aside form it's choice TL location off of Van Ness, this bar had a few things going for it. 1. It never got so crowded it was uncomfortable, which I really appreciate. 2. Bartenders were very chill, and very polite. 3. Bathroom never had much of a line, see 1, above. 4. Lots of seating: stools, chairs, tables, and benches. I cannot stress enough how nice it is to have somewhere to sit when you're out. Go KoKo. 5. It's close to an Irving Pizza, which was delicious. 6. The ceilings felt a little low which made me feel, like, way taller. Great time, I'd definitely go back.
by Tom W. on It's a large space with a dance floor big enough to host a good sized crowd of break dancers without interfering with the other groovers. The small back room always seems to host music of a different genre than the main room. It's refreshing to be able to dip into one or the other and change your scene. The DJ booth is big and up on a stage, so you can actually see your spinner and access to find out who is at the decks is easy. Coat check is pricey ($3) comparatively and the drinks are not super cheap. But, there are two bars and that makes it easy to get your alcohol needs met. They have a good size outdoor smoking/chill out area too, which is great when you are sweaty and need some air. They have a packed calendar and there is always something going on at this club, it is an easy plug-in for a night out without pretension people or surly doormen. The only reason I gave it three stars was because I have never had a super RAWKOUT time at this club. It is a safe bet, but never like cutting edge, whoa, gotta def come again.
by Lyndsay Workings on the atmosphere in Cafe Du Nord is awesome, especially when you want to see your favorite band. Legendary Pink Dots were this close to me, well I can't really show you but it was , phenomenal!
