Wow. New to town. Stopped into Club Baysix, and when the bartender finally got done with texting or whatever, I was served. Left an obvious tip, but bartender waited until I wasn’t looking before he took it. Mostly uncomfortable place. Typically the kind of bar that would dwindle if someone opened one that is little closer to the times and the market of what folks really would like to have when they’re out and about. I mean, really, I have seen kool-aid or weenie stands run more appreciatively. A very cold experience.

The owner of Busby's also owns the El Toro Cantina downstairs. The cantina is a restaurant, so they don't have audio for sports games. That's when i walk upstairs to Busby's. The breakfast here is awesome, and the happy hour is 1/2 off all appetizers and wings. The staff is friendly and all the servers can always be spotted by the plaid skirts they wear. I usually take off after the LAKER games, but i think they have a DJ and dance floor when there are no games on. Football season is the best here, because of the number of screens they have. You can follow all the action without missing a play. For side bets, you can play pool or ping pong in the game rooms.

Okay, let me start off by saying that Temple is 3 nightclubs in 1. I came here Saturday, Jan. 23, with my wife and another couple for the LifeSF party with Ron Carroll as the headlining DJ. We got there early, about 10:15, so we could get in for free by using the LifeSF guest list (had to be in by 11:00). The line was long and the bouncers were slow. I am almost certain that this was intentional so that the crowd looked bigger than it really was. Since this seems to be the norm in SF, I have no problem with it. Okay, so we finally got in about 10:45, but the upstairs main club was still being converted from Prana to Temple so we were directed down stairs. The first place we ended up was "The Catacombs", a dark, dingy hip-hop music playing club within Temple. It just felt dirty and uncomfortable and I don't like hip hop so we passed through quickly into club number 2. Pluses of the catacombs: none Minuses: bad music, too dark, long line at what looked like an under-stocked bar Club number 2 is the "Destiny Lounge" or something like that and it is all white like the main club and that night was playing a weird variety of electronic house. I love house music, but prefer house music with words (see David Guetta, Kaskade, Armin Van Buuren), so we hit the bar. Like the catacombs, the "Destiny Lounge" had an understocked bar. They didn't even have Grey Goose Vodka. My friend ordered a long island and it was terrible. It was really sweet and sour at the same time, features not desired in a long island iced tea. After forcing that down we finally went upstairs to the now open main floor of Temple. What a difference. The main floor is huge, the bar is a full bar, the long islands were awesome and the music was killer. Another feature that smokers will appreciate is that there is an outdoor smoking area so smokers can go smoke conveniently without having to go down the street (lookin at you Ruby Skye) and at the same time not bothering non-smokers. Eventually Ron Carroll came on and he was awesome. The sound system was good, not Ruby Skye good (which shakes your insides), but much better than smaller clubs like Cellar. The dance floor is large and I didn't have any trouble bumping into other dancers. Like all SF clubs, the placed seemed empty until about 11:30. Overall, Temple was an awesome experience and with the pay parking lot right next to it for $10, even that is convenient. The top floor club gets 5 stars, and the downstairs clubs are much worse. Destiny Lounge gets a 2 and Catacombs gets a 1. From now on, I will just go later and stick with the main room. Highly recommend Temple to anyone who likes larger clubs where you can blend in.

i went on opening eve and wasn't impressed. it took forever to get drinks from the servers, on average 30 mins or so. the music was an odd mix that didn't flow, although it got better towards the end of the night. if it weren't for a dj i know, that will be regularly spinning here, i would probably never come back.
