I was happy to hear of a new lunch spot near work...1st and Howard.  Some team members were raving about the burrito they just got at Fat Taco...I popped over to see for myself.  I had a Fat Taco that was excellent, nice to have the chips/salsa included too.  What a deal w/ my drink. $4.25.  Quan, the owner was super friendly and eager for feedback to make his spot a success.  I loved pulling my diet coke out of  a cooler of ice, So Good Freezing Cold! Try it peeps!

I ordered a Dark and Stormy... and how appropriate what a cold overcast day yesterday turned out to be. It was nice to hull up in a dark, warm bar with co-workers for a couple hours. The music and the anime flashing on the wall was a little too intense for a happy hour experience but the drinks were decent and the bar-keep let us bring in food from Cilantro across the street. Careful - no food menu and cash only.

*sound effects* Boom chicka...wow, wow..boom chicka, boom chicka! *sound effects* Sounds like porno music don't it? Too bad you Pervs...it's the sound of bass emanating from the sound system of the venue. I came here with my good friend Mr. Ant Man, one day when I was in the city. He picked me up from the East Bay and off we went. Neighboring also nearby Club NV (on the same street) I came here not knowing hat to expect and I assumed it would be one of those clubs, that just played top 40 primarily and left it at that, and boy was I so wrong. Everyone's attire was semi formal to dressy. I've been dressing up full suited, way too much lately so I cut back and got into some threads that were reasonable for the club (but dance appropriate as well). We got inside swiftly, with a ticket in hand (10 dollars for admission, with sign up to guest list before 11pm). We went downstairs first to see the top 40/hip hop floor. It was filled with a crimson red of dim lighting. Seating is somewhat spacious and spaced out to the outer corners of the room, where four pillars stand in a square like fashion centered on the dance floor as the foundation of the two level/ three room dance floor lounge/restaurant. The dance floor here, was probably the best until towards the end of the night of course. The converging bathroom/wash area was also dim, but with a darker tone of sapphire blue light. The towels were attainable via grabbing from a stack and the wash area was sanitized for the most part (same with the toilet area at least for the Men's side). With the woman's side being on the opposite wall in the conjoining hall. As we explored upstairs there we're two different rooms to venture. One room had more of a trance/techno feel, with white plastic inflatable walls as the wall paper (the kind of stuff you would see and feel in a kid's inflatable jump house). The bar area, was to about a medium size to accomodate 15-20 people at a time. Whereas the DJ was fully centered in the dance floor area...the only kick about it was its a bit slippery considering the spilled drinks. Ant Man escorted me to the center lounge area, with a classier feel (also associated as the dining area), two stage pieces set where performers ( ala interpretive dancers, or go-goers) can dance and appease the participating club goers. The DJ also centered up front (playing mostly house music), from the entrance, whereas all the seating both lounge and dining associated are around the sides. The dance floor in this area, was a bit cleaner but also retained some slippery features over time after spilled drinks and constant mopping became an issue. Throughout the entire night, we were alternating between rooms finding space to dance (since that's what the premise of attending here was for). Occasionally we were stopped by other club goers, to take pictures or demonstrate and flaunt our Bboy-esque flavor to the mainstream public from time to time. As for drinks here's the following that we ordered: -4 Coronas -2 Liquid Cocaines w/2 coke backs -1 Vodka/Redbull -2 Tokyo Teas -4 glasses of complimentary water All in all we spent about $60.00 with tax and tip, which I felt was a bit pricey for charging drinks (reminds me of the former Taste Ultra Lounge in San Jose, Ca.) but its whatever. Ant Man definitely appreciated the buzz, I gave him with the offerings of a Liquid Cocaine and the occasional smoke he would attain when going out into the smoking area (blocked off area, in the back of the venue on the upper level). As for all the other drinks they were stiff, and the corona was a meh at most. I would need to come back for the food offerings on a future visit (to give a better overall rating), but this one of the better SF spots that I've been to a very long time (with the exception of Poleng Lounge in the Masonic District in San Francisco as well). Overall, this place is well worth the re-visit and I look forward to getting back into the groove and enjoying another nighttime buzz, good times indeed.
