I had a party at Mayes Last Night on the 7th of February. The Environment was wonderful, the place was clean and very nice inside. Love the art work being created during the party. The Food was great, we were served Fried Shrimp and Oysters with garlic Bread. Cudos to the chef. The Oyster Guy, Great Job and thanks again. The Service was unexplainable. The Cocktail Waitress was very rude to me and my guests. At one point several of my guests came up to tell me that she was rude to them. A couple guests told me the waitress yelled at them. The bartender actually called some of my guests semi-homeless people. We did not feel welcome in the establishment by the bartender or the waitress even from the beginning of the party. One of my guests got there about 5 minutes early and was told they knew nothing about the meet and greet. We were trying to give away door prizes and we politely asked if the music could be turned down and was told to wait a minute. After about ten minutes we figured our request had been ignored. It is very hard to recommend this place for a party. We just wanted to have a good time and enjoy the place so we could recommend to friends. The Wait Staff and Bartenders made that very difficult. Some of my guests were afraid to go up to the bar and buy a drink because they heard from others how rude the waitress and bartender are. I mentioned I was going to invite the Taxi Drivers around 9:00 p.m. and they would arrive around 9 or 10. I was told no problem. To my surprise the kitchen closes at 9:30 p.m. and they ran out of food according to the waitress. We had several drivers come in only to be disappointed by having no food. The overall experience was indifferent. I felt very bad for hosting a party at Mayes, and the guests were a little frazzled. I hope the staff does not do this to all the guests. By the way, I have never given a low rating like this, but it was deserved.

I don't really understand where they get the idea of a nightclub being at margarita jones, since they just turn the bar area (small) into a little dancing area (never been for dancing, but can't possibly imagine dancing there). Happy hour or during lunch for the buffet are the only times anyone should make an appearance. During happy hour, go for the REGULAR margaritas, they sometimes will charge regular price for the cadillac ones. Do NOT get a mojito here - the serve them in tumblers with more ice than liquid. Drinks are usually strong, the buffet is amazing with the handmade tortillas and tortilla bar and they have really good pozole and fried platanos. Service used to be good, and the managers know my friends and I by name since we basically paid their salaries in booze over the past three years, but of late, it's gotten infamously bad. they'll wait during happy hour so that you can't order that many drinks within the window. Oh well, outside of lunch buffett, but menu is substandard at best, but go for the appetizer sampler and you'll be happy.

Had one amazing night at Vertigo some months back. Pretty small venue, tight packed dance floor, horrific ventilation. BUT, they played every song I have ever wanted to dance to. No skeezy guys trying to grind up on ya, and a really hyped crowd. It was one of the most fun nights I've ever had. When we left, our hair was damp, and our clothes were sticky -- Just how we like it.
