The Box O the Box lol this is a pretty weird CLUB/PLAY i must say this is a very unique Night club. With a lot of cross dressers Trans mixed with super hot girls. Drinks were great. Super tough door.

I was expecting Martuni's to be a kitschy place, and when the door yawned open to reveal very dim lighting and a flagrantly decorated bar, I started preparing my diva persona. Instead, Martuni's evokes an elegant, intimate (if a bit crowded) lounge setting, and I enjoyed meeting a number of wonderful people from across the country. The insanely strong, delicious drinks forced me to take a cab home with my special someone, because my heels were suddenly a bit too much for the SF hills. And the accompanist had loads of sassy attitude, but let me sing Tiny Dancer to my heart's content. Thank you to those gentleman who complimented my song performance. Undoubtedly, I shall return.

This club is a good place for the underaged. Very young crowd, mostly "21"-year-olds. They also supposedly have a Rebels of Comedy show at 8 pm, but we didn't catch that. That might've been more promising than the dance floor. My friend and I don't normally traverse the 405 N, and we'd been skeptical of a club in Studio City. We were right. We'd been invited to a friend's brother's birthday on Saturday night, and we were on the guest list. We stayed over an hour, before heading out to Zanzibar, one of my favorite clubs. ------------------- When the girl before us presented an ID that was obviously not her, they weren't going to let her in, until she protested, "I've lost 30 pounds, and I had a nose job!" A harbinger of what was to come. The good: The crowd was ethnically mixed, the bathrooms surprisingly clean, the a/c pretty good, and we got in for free. Nice red velvet booths and also high chairs against the walls. We found easy street parking across the street, and the area seems to have a lot of cute boutiques and shops. The bad: The music was pretty awful, extremely loud, and undanceable. There was an older woman who came by herself and was dancing alone, and there was also a gray-haired man that we thought had come with her, but he was checking out the underaged girls. The funny: One of our Persian friends noted that there were many Persians there that night. He said it wasn't too surprising, as "Persians rule the Valley." We did a lot of interesting people-watching, and it was an amusing experience, but we don't plan to come back. Update: I upgraded it from 2 to 3 stars, bc I mostly hated the dj and the music that night. The night we went was 18+, which explains a lot; I'm ~5' 11" with heels, and I was towering over most of the people there. I forgot to mention that they do bag searches there, so security is higher than at other clubs. Our friends who stayed that night said that the bouncers shut down the place much earlier than usual, and wild rumors were flying as to why this happened. Cover ranges from $10-$20 on weekends, $5-$7 during the week.
