i cant believe my rateclubsing has come down to rateclubsing about a kclub. well, this place certainly isnt what it used to be. i remember the days it was Le Prive... man this place was CRACKIN back in 2000-2005 or so. but now the whole kclub scene is different. booking back then was a lot better, and the quality of women were much better. but now it looks so commercialized, and i cant quite put my finger on the right words to describe the difference. the whole scene is just... dead.... the past 2-3 years has been bad for ktown. even with their cheap prices now, not many people go. that dance floor is tiny. i dunno... just sucks.

Went for "Flirtfest 2010" day before Valentine's. They claimed it was "sold out last year," but tickets were available at the door so it's not as hot as they think. The music was good, but the DJ only played about 2 minutes of each song before changing tracks---not awesome. Drinks were weak and overpriced - $10. Girls were 22-35, I'm 23 and felt like the youngest male there. 10% of the men there were balding. Definitely a ton of creepers. The women were pretentious. I went to dance with a girl and her friend shook her head "no" at me. I had to turn away to prevent laughing in her face. Have fun dancing with the baldies and midgets I saw at this club. Won't be going again, only gave 2 stars because music was decent.

cat club is pretty good. not fantabulous and not horrible, just pretty good. i've gone to many a club here since i moved to sf in the late 90s- fake, rocket, gossip, etc + many more i am sure i'm forgetting. i would give the cat club 3 stars, but i have had some really really fun nights here, so i am giving it an extra star just for that reason. the drinks are strong, always a plus. the new outdoor smoking area is nice, though a bit cramped. i like that there are two rooms so if you get sick of one, you can go to the other. they've remodeled a bit, and i kind of miss the scuzziness from before, but oh well. one thing that's improved is the bathrooms-they used to be really nasty and now they are much much cleaner. the crowd is usually a bizarre mix, but nevertheless entertaining...i'm often left wondering "what's with these people and what are they doing here?" the skinny puppy tribute i went to was better than usual, as was the music. i'm getting older, so don't feel the desire to go to this kind of stuff as much, but usually when i do it's at the cat club. yay.
