GAG! This place is ghetto! The area is nasty and the door was chaotic. There's two separate areas, one with what seemed to be house music of sorts and one with hip-rap/rap. Both were equally dirty, run down, and populated by two kinds of people -- douchey, sketchy guys and trashy, sloppy girls.

I'd been wanting to check this place out for a while - and what better way than Monday's recession-friendly $15 for a 3-course meal. And looking at the "regular" menu prices, the Monday special really is a great deal. It was hard to complain that the food turned out to be just "good" (not "great") b/c we were paying just $15. Although I have to say the soup was out-of-this-world fantastic. Here is what we got - FYI, none of these are from the regular menu. FOR APPS (2 choices): Smoked Root Vegetable soup w/ lobster kimchi - WOW!! That had to be the best tasting soup I'd ever had. Loved the flavor - tasted like smoked bacon, vegetables all pureed, and a nice random piece of lobster to top it off. Didn't quite taste the kimchi but hey, "lobster kimchi" does sound cool. The soup was the perfect choice for the cooler weather. Arugula Salad w/ heirloom tomatoes, Maytag bleu cheese, and lemon dressing - I sampled a taste, nice light salad, very fresh, but I was glad I went with the soup :) The soup was just so unforgettable ... FOR ENTREES (2 choices): Pan-Seared Monkfish w/ couscous & some kind of tomato mushroom olive sauce - I was a little disappointed after that wonderful soup. The monkfish was breaded, and the server really talked up the sauce (calling it a French word that started with a "B") ... but to me, it was just a tomato-like sauce. It wasn't bad - my friends has to remind me we were getting a good deal. Cornish Hen in some truffle reduction, with carrots, green beans, & potatoes - this dish scored better for presentation. Great seasonal choice. I sampled a bite, and liked the sauce. My friends seemed to enjoy it. FOR DESSERT (2 choices) - yay, they redeemed themselves here :) Ricotta cheesecake w/ mixed berry coulis - nice, light & fluffy. Great graham cracker crust. Generous slice, too. Flourless chocolate truffle cake w/ homemade coffee ice cream - hard to go wrong with this choice. Yummy. Overall, good experience. If you're coming Monday, definitely get the $15 special. Liked the ambience a lot - esp. later in the evening with the dim lighting and candles. The ambience really was day & night as the evening went on - we arrived around 6:15 to a bright & sunny-like restaurant when it was still light outside, and left around 9:30 from a romantic & intimate-like restaurant. I'd give it 3.5 stars rounded to 4 b/c of the soup, the $15 special (I love specials!!), and the ambience. Service was good, too.
