Went there last night with a friend from out of town upon his recommendation. Would have to say its a bit of a tourist trap. The jazz was good but nothing you wouldn't find for much cheaper in the village. We got there late enough that we didn't have to get the price fixe but I ordered some food anyway and they managed to burn the bread on a blt. The drinks were standard price. Overall I would say not bad but not great. It wasn't worth the trip for me.

Went to Opera for an event on a Saturday night. We had reservations, bottle service, the whole nine. However we were made to stand in line for nearly 45 minutes to "work out" details with the promoters. They informed us they were packed to capacity and that our party was too large. Meanwhile at least 3 other groups, with more people than we had, walked right in no problem. We had 15 people, and they said they could only allow in 10. The promoter, who was black, then came to us and informed us he could get us in at another club, cause there was no "black people" inside Opera and they don't play "our" kind of music. I told him I had been there the week before and there were all types of people and that the music was pretty much all hip hop. After agreeing to purchase even more bottles we were let in. They were nowhere near capacity and we had our pick of tables. The music was all hip hop and there were all types of people in there. The point of this is a heads up that Opera on Saturday night doesn't necessarily cater to people of color. I understand the promotion game, but the guys running this obviously want a specific crowd in this place. I read a few more reviews with similar situations. I went there because I knew a few people there and my bottles were at a "reduced" cost. But I can't support an establishment like this and this is a warning to anyone else looking for a good time on Saturday night, Opera is not the place for you that is unless you meet the correct color criteria.
