I'm intrigued by the mass of negative reviews here. I had lunch here with my husband and in-laws when we were in Austin late last December. Something about it caught my mother-in-law's eye, so we went in for lunch knowing nothing about it. As a native Southern Californian currently living in Albany NY, I was hopeful that this would be better than the Mexican food in Albany, and it was. (Granted, that isn't much of a criteria.) It was a nice-looking place, everything was clean (including the restrooms), and the service was suitably attentive and friendly. The food wasn't particularly memorable -- the only thing I can specifically remember was the ceviche I had -- but none of us had any complaints. It certainly wasn't the best meal we had in Austin, but it was satisfactory -- definitely good enough that I find all the one-star and two-star reviews surprising.

Oh, Bubble. I'll always have a soft spot for this place (and Kells, these two are a packaged deal for me). I can't tell you how many times I've been here; it's come to be my default venue if I'm feeling like a night out. The lines are never too long but the place always seems to fill up to the right amount of people. I love the decor of the first floor with the classic SF brick walls, pretty framed mirrors and comfy red plush couches. If the first floor gets a little tame for me then I can always migrate to the ground floor aka the cavernous ground floor. The music is usually pretty good, top 40s and there are fans down there! OMG, it gets so hot so being able to dance near a fan is a godsend. Drinks are pretty good if i remember correctly. And probably the best thing, no cover :)
