by stacey b. on It's a boat! I'm scared of boats but I went to the Frying Pan to see Death In June, so this review is of the bar as a show venue as well. Cozy and atmospheric... a little rickety that night in May. Sound and acoustics were perfect. Drinks were pricey, servers were hiding deep in the galley from all us scary neofolk. The photos of outdoor seating that I'm looking at now weren't available that night but it looks like fun.
by Alvaro Cackett on Chardmo, need I say more? This is just a good spot. A place where they have unusual drink specials and will custom make a poison for you. That shows creativity and I like creativity with my drinks. Good music, good feel, and of course great bartenders.
by Kristine d. on DJ played great tunes, early 90s hip-hop & r&b (tribe, jade, mary j"oh whut!?"), reggae/dancehall, some throwbacks... shalimar, songs that make you go "OH DAMN WHO SINGS THIS AGAIN??" (of course booty shakin' music "don't stop, git it, git it" crowd is ok, but we were there to dance so we got that quotient filled. One thing, DJ would play the whole track... i guess i'm used to the play one verse, one hook and next song. drinks were definitely watered down. (can i have some vodka with my vodka tonic??) I can see this place bein' a standby if you just wanna get up and dance. Can't beat a $5 cover!!
