Walking through it, I had to scoot scoot "excuse me" scoot scoot "sorry" all the way through. No personal space -The dance floor was the size of my kitchen. I SWEAR! One star added bc I got butt drunk and had a good night. Another star added bc the bottle service girls were pretty and were on top of things
by Maria T. on Mehbulous. Blah-tastic. Whatevs. My experience at Drai's was that it was filled with well-dressed, mediocre looking men and women and LOTS of old creepsters. It's always interesting to see what "diversity" a club attracts and this club had a distinct majority of Armenian patrons. Not that I can blame their taste in going to the latest "it" club in town. Yes, the venue is very pretty and has one of the best rooftop views. Describing it as a Vegas-style club would not be too terrible of a stretch. But the "club" itself was just ok and definitely NOT worth the money. Or half of what we paid for table service for my friend's birthday. We had a cabana and while there was a platform above the pool for...something... it wasn't open and so there wasn't any dancing near our table that we paid so dearly through the nose for. And the dance floor inside was surprisingly small and unimpressive. Went on a Friday and the DJ was just alright, but didn't really play much of the top 40/hip hop that we all know and love. If shaking your groove thang is what you're after, there are other places that are much better. Someone summed up the hype and snobbery and stupidity of it all when they asked "Why is it not busy up here but there are a ton of people waiting outside to get in?"
by Manual Daggett on Carman's makes things easy for me. I can be picky and indecisive when there are too many options on a menu, and dining with me can be a little frustrating since I can take forever to order. There were 5 breakfast entrees on the menu board with suggested sides. Good start. I am a believer that less menu items = good food. And Carman's reinforced my belief. Each item was read to us by our server (I forget his name, but he's awesome). I usually refuse to have fruit on my French Toast, but when I glanced at Carmen's large picture staring at me, and then looked down through the little window that looked into the kitchen and saw her in the flesh, I felt that this was a no-nonsense woman who I should trust. So, I went for the New Jersey blueberry, peaches n cream covered french toast with turkey sausage on the side. Different. Daring (for me). Delicious. Everything was fresh, and you can tell she really knows what she's doing. We sat at the counter, and service was great. Everyone introduced themselves to us, and we engaged in a nice conversation. We called before, but there was no need to since it was early. Afterwards, one of the customers came up to us and asked if we liked our meal (we did). He was still in a haze after having some grits with crabs mixed in. He had a huge smile on his face. Even the dog out front was an absolute doll. I loved the decor (penis scattered around), and most of all, I love the slogan on the card that was handed to us. Carmen, "She put the 'c*nt' back in country." You go girl.
