WHAAAaaa!! I LOVE BOOTIE!! I went for their Valentine's Day party and it was so much fun!!! They have amazing mashups, mixing everything from today's top 40 to classic rock! There was even Village People and Backstreet Boys mixed in there! ;D There's a Live Midnight Show and that night was a drag queen named Honey Mahogany. She totally rocked!! Plus free CDs were being thrown around and I love free stuff!! There's such a diverse crowd at Bootie and I really liked that there weren't a lot of creepers. Everyone there just wanted to have fun and dance the night away! There's the first level with a stage and the bars, as well as an upper level with tables and seats and, no lie, people were dancing EVERYWHERE!! On the tables, chairs, on the stairs...after the Midnight Show everyone rushed onto the stage and started dancing there too! It's fantastic and you can't help but get caught up in the energy and excitement! I guess the only downside is that there's a $6 cover before 10 pm and $12 after. I'm not sure how other Saturdays are, but for the Valentine's Day party, the line was around the corner and was probably about an hour wait. You can buy advance tickets online for $15. Despite all that, I think it's 100% worth it! Best $15 cover I've ever spent on a club! Bootie is definitely the place to be 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays of the month!! Other bonuses: right near a pizza place and a crepes-to-go across the street!! :)

My GO-TO spot around Russian Hill. Here is the cliff notes version for all you rateclubsers just looking for a solution to your hunger and not a foodie diary entry: ********************************* PESCADO TACO NICK'S WAY = best thing on the menu. ********************************* Its a fried fish taco with the crispy tortilla on the inside and warm soft tortilla on the outside all topped with a dollop of guac. (2nd place - Carne Asada Nick's way) This place is great for: * Lunch/Dinner or after-bars late night * Taco Tues (dollar off eat-in orders that are non-pescado -- nick's way extra $.95) Minus one star for being expensive mexican. Nobody should have to pay 5 dollars for a taco, but I can't help coming back because I like it so much and there isn't much cheap to-go food in Russian Hill.

Sutra is dark and secluded and hard to be driven away from the posh looking club across the street, Opera. Sutra is much smaller and not as "posh" as Opera (would like to be.) The space is really dark and the bar seems limited and small, and the dancefloor is also tiny as well. I don't think it's the "to be seen" place at all, way too dark also. Music was ok, but most the people are standing around in the way of people who want to dance... just not a good combo.
