We went in with a few friends to celebrate my birthday. The first drinks and food that we ordered were great we were helped by a nice bartender. When more friends showed up we were taking up a lot of the seating by the fireplace and we decided to get some more drinks. It seems like on our second round of drink the bar was going through shift change because all the staff behind the bar was different and they all were scrambling to get their stuff situated. The bar started to pick up with more guests and the bartenders were not helping anyone. One of my guests had to leave early, he had opened a tab with a bar and just wanted to pay and leave. It took him about 15mins to get his card and it wasnt until I was able to order some drinks and pointed the bartender to my friend to tell him that he needed his card to leave. We ordered a second order of fries, that had come with dipping sauce the first time around and this time not even ketchup was provided, we went up to the bar for more drinks and I asked the bartender for the sauce. He told me it doesn't come with the sauce we all said well we got a sauce with it last time. So he goes to the kitchen to ask for this sauce and they tell him it does. So he comes back and tells me it does but I need to order it. I say ok thats okay I still want it. (All this for a small ramekin of sauce) He goes to his computer and checks my order and comes back and tells me that I need to pay for it because I didnt order it. He swipes my card that he had for our tab and gives me the sauce. We head back to our place by the fireplace, some friends left and they looked like they were setting up for a special event. After a few minutes the busser came and said "Im sorry but youre going to have to move." We were a bit confused and asked why and he said that there was a special event and we had to make room for it. So he led us to a small table cornered area behind the curtain. I work in food service and so do all my friends and in guest services if he had said " I really appologize were setting up for a special event do you mind moving?" we would not have thought twice about it. We decide to leave and close our tab, we approach the bar and after another length of time we get the bartenders attention and ask to close our tab. He looks for our card, and looks, and looks, and tells us it will be just a moment, and looks, and looks. Someone who looks like the manager comes behind the bar and they talk in each others ears, and they look, and look, and keep looking. Finally she tells us that shes sorry but she cant find our card! After a while of appologies and after we tell her the bad service we had received she takes down our information makes promises to make it all up to us assuring us that that is not the way that they opperate and that she will contact us on the next weeks tuesday. We have yet to hear from management. We had to close our card. And just suggest to you that you pay cash for your drinks and not trust the bartenders with your indetity and your ATM card!

The place to meet some of the most obnoxious people in Manhattan, but who can resist the dollar admission? You'll see some great shows for almost nothing ... just make sure to get there drunk, because they make their money back on drinks and then some.

I like this gym a lot because it was my first one, it's close to me, and I'm just used to it (having come regularly for the past few years). Good Things: - Warm, cozy atmosphere due to the low ceilings, small building size, and layout of equipment into areas that are spaced like smaller rooms - Location is convenient (183 and Burnet). The only annoying thing might be if one was coming from north 183--they'd have to do a U-turn under the freeway with a somewhat short distance to cross three lanes. - Lots of parking and the parking spots are regular size, not the compact ones - Wide variety of equipment Not so Good Things: - During peak use times, it sometimes feels like there's not enough of each equipment. - Equipment is crowded due to lack of floor space so you're often working out very close to your neighbor. - Occasionally I see the frequently-used equipment is in poor shape. For instance, the vinyl might be torn, grips might be torn, weight plates divider might be broken. They do not stay broken for long, though. - Loud background music makes it hard to listen to one's own personal music player.
