by Alfred Ecoffey on Very bad experience. Substandard food and inattentive service staff. The food was barely edible. We ordered small dishes to share. Sweet potato was sticky sweet and should have been offered only as a dessert. Tempura shrimp had a strong chemical flavor; halibut was overcooked; scallops were undercooked - three strikes!! Fried calamari was very nice. Portions were quite small considering the high prices. When we discretely expressed our discontent to the waiter and host, the service dropped off. Management made no attempt to remedy the situation. Rather they acted as if there were something wrong with us! There is an abundance of great restaurants in SF, stay clear of Medjool!

Reasons: Everything others have written about the music & sound, etc, LIGHTING, Art Nouveau architecture, just the right amount of people inside- you can dance w/o getting into each other's way, just enough pple for good energy, as far as douchy types inside- I'm usually too busy having a good time to pay attention to them. Boo Hoo for pple who had a bad time and gave bad ratings. From reading their reviews, I would mention that this is NOT primarily a bar or lounge. There is a reason pricey bottle service and why not anyone can just walk in at the door. People: this is a club for dancing, NOT for sitting around to chit chat or to have intimate conversations!
by Molly K. on The location isn't in a packed area, but it sure does bring a lot of people in. The place is Cosmo Lounge and Lava. I combine the two and just call it Cosmo-Lava. Sounds cooler. The place has several bars and a few different "rooms" to chill/dance at. The music is different in each "room". There is an outside patio and there is always a new crowd. I definitely think it's a place to maybe meet someone. The music needs a little work on... maybe an updated playlist or so, or something people can actually dance too. I think they played Kenny Chesney before? Something pretty country... in a "techno version" - haha. But there are plenty of DJ's to keep you moving through the night. Cons: Parking!
