by Tim O. on Had heard a lot about this place for a while. Finally checked it out and glad I did. Cheap drinks, cheap greasy fried food. Pitchers available, and what says dive more than that. Don't remember what night i went, but was pretty crowded. Still found a nice booth. I guess you could go alone, but it's better for two. It's the type of place that could be a small diner during the daytime in 1985.
by Nigel Filpo on I couldn't help but say "Whoa.." the minute I stepped into this theater/lounge. A cozy and unexpected surprise smack in between Chinatown and the LES, The Box was the Perfect (with a capital P) venue to see Imogen Heap perform. Think: Dark drapes, dim hanging lamps with ornate designs, candles, and stately but mismatched furniture. The stage was lit by many candles, and two standing lamps, creating a perfect frame around the red grand piano. The setting was amazing. And so was the music. Ms. Heap did mention that this place just opened recently, so I'm unsure about what to expect on a normal day. This place's website states that it is a "theater/fine dining" location.. hmm. One thing's for sure though. I'd definitely want to come back on a regular day to find out what's up.
