So, I stopped in at about mid-afternoon thinking I would try a new froyo shop this time. It was my least favorite experience so far. I was originally attracted to it seeing that they had 30 flavors in rotation. I asked to try the "dulce de leche" sample. I understand that I can't self serve with sample cups because customers might take too much. Nonetheless, I'm glad I only had a sample. It was good, but was definitely too rich for my taste. Caramel might be better used as a topping till they can find a way to make it taste as good as the Haagen-Daaz version. I ended up filling up the 16 oz. cup with "original tart", and the "pomegranate-rasberry tart." Proceeding to the toppings bar, I didn't like how they ground up all the chocolate bars, and would've preferred it if they had just broken them up into chunks, but that's personal preference. I moved on to fruits. It was just disgusting. Everything was MUSHY and old, especially the strawberries. Considering how small they were cut, I can imagine they get mushy pretty fast. The blackberries were ok, but I was reluctant to take some because of the look of the surrounding fruits. There aren't too many places i know of that sell ripe mangos anyways, so not too sad about them not having any. When they brought out a fresh batch of blueberries I eventually went with those and some walnuts. After paying about $4 i dug down into the pomegranate-rasberry tart. It was truly, NOT GOOD. It left a very strong, old, concentrated, syrupy taste in my mouth. I quickly tried to rescue whatever "original" was untainted by the pomegranate and could taste it after a few bites. There were a few chips of ice in the mix that didn't really affect me at this point. I would give the original a 3/5 in that it's not overly tart, but not the best quality or mixture I've tried. I stopped by the Hardee's next door, and got some chicken tenders to cover the syrupy taste. Maybe I caught them on a bad day or hour. Very reluctant to go back.

I finally got to check out what this whole "nightlife at the academy" was. I have to say, the concept of running around the academy boozing it up is rockin'! It all started with my coworkers and myself thinking of this as being an option for our holiday party, so of course..... we HAD to come and research the event before we could decide, well... that was our excuse ;-). Anyway, it was a really great time, the only downfall I had was that I was more focused on drinking and the social aspect of the event than actually fully checking out what the academy has to offer. My geeky side comes out when I come here and I want to explore and check everything out and I felt that I couldn't. It doesn't help that it was my first time in after the remodel, so after fully exploring the place and geekin' out, I wouldn't mind coming back with a group of friends to just enjoy ourselves.

A nightmare for music lovers. As I write this I am sitting crammed into a 2'x4' table with five other random patrons forced to listen to their constant chitter chatter, the clang and crunches of their salads, subjected to the constant overpowering stench of smelly food. And I was one of the lucky ones... half of the audience is meatpacked into a remote annex next to the bar with little or no hope of ever catching sight of our performer, Cassandra Wilson, who didn't show up on stage until 50 minutes after the show's scheduled start time. For this privilege I paid $60 with $5 off my first overpriced drink, disguised as $55 plus $5 drink minimum. And this is not the first time I have let myself be subjected to this experience. Perhaps next time I will know better.
