i'd been to the phoenix landing for food and drinks before and always enjoyed the atmosphere, but i'd never been for dancing until last night. the dancing was fun for a tiny $5 cover, and though crowded there was still space to move. coat check was handy at $2 a pop, and the coat check lass was kind enough to check my GIANT bag along with my coat, for which i was very appreciative. only downsides? beware the $10 minimum for credit card tabs! also, i thought it was supposed to be 80s night, but they played a bunch of modern-day hits sprinkled into the 80s tunes, which sort of busted up my middle-school groove. when you're there for the regular bar, the food's alright but nothing special, service is good, and the people who feed the jukebox seem to do a pretty solid job. haven't had a bad experience here yet, and definitely hope to be back to kick out the jams once more!

This is based on customer service...I didn't see an actual comedy show. First of all we were going on a fluke. Monday night no real plans, but there's ALWAYS something to do in L.A on a Monday night .....right?!?! Ummm not really, but just so happened to see that there was a comedy show going on, sounded "Urban", so we said let's go check it out. We called down the chick " Desiree" if I'm not mistaken. Was very unprofessional. I'm calling inquiring about your business, which means I'm coming to spend some money, I ask about tickets and if I'd make it to the show in time (10min til start time). She tells me that there are a few left, and that I probably won't make it on time she she'd suggest that we just don't come! WTF?!?!?!!! Seriously! Anyways we goes down there anyway to just hang out in the bar area, since we were told that that's were the guys hang out sometimes. So we get there sure eough the show is sold out....we grab a seat people watch, eat and drink. Drinks were great! Food as well, nachos, fries, chicken strips, chicken tortilla soup! Saw a couple "celebrities" B & D listers (no A-listers) LOL! Oh another moment we had when parking...first of all it sucks to high heaven. It's residential, but you must have a 'sticker/permit' to park on one side. The Improv has jhired a 'security' company to moniter those that park in the area, I'm not sure if it's to ticket those people or to advise that they'll be ticketed....I only know cause the smart-alec securtiy advised. We wound up parking in the Fred Segal lot for $5. When ever in town I'll be sure to check their calendar and hopefully...I'll be able to see a show!

no patron. are you crazy? come on now.... big room with upper floor to look down. big stage. 2 bars. lots of lights. not enough funtioning bathroom stalls, sinks, toilet paper. no decor whatsoever. almost no place to sit and lounge with friends. its almost like you're forced to sit on the floor to rest your feet.
