Trinity is the first Seattle Nightclub to offer bottle service/VIP Tables . Which is a great concept for those who don't party that often, and just feel like doing it big when they do. However, my group did NOT want to get the VIP room, which supposedly for a group of 30 people runs $15 pp and comes with a free shot per person. Sounds like a decent deal considering normal admission after 11 pm is $15. So we all show up sometime before 11 Saturday night. At this time street parking is already a bust, but there's a lot right across the street. $12 for the evening, so carpooling is advised. Luckily my friends were already in line, so my wait was a little less than five minutes. Bouncers were actually very friendly, and the whole putting our names on the guest list thing was useless because there wasn't one. Looks like admission is free for everyone before 11. Works for me. So there are three main music rooms in Trinity. The blue techno room, the Chinese (I wish I was Tao in Las Vegas) hip-hop room/bar, and the top40 main ballroom dance floor which doesn't open until around midnight (it helps keep the club busy looking as it fills up for the night). So how did they do? Decor - I wasn't impressed, but I give them props for actually trying much harder than any other Seattle club to be chic. Crowd - A lot of Asians and not the typical asians you see at clubs like Toi, Venom. I'm talking straight up FOBs and some random sketchy characters all giving evil looks, to the point of "keep your eyes on the floor so you don't get a knife in the back" feeling. Also a lot of older people too (30+) for a night club. I also felt bad for the girls in my group cus apparently some guys on the dance floor didn't get the idea that her running away didn't mean "keep following me". Drinks - Basic pours, actually I even felt gypped. I asked for my typical Incredible Hulk, glass filled with ice, poured 3/4 full. I asked if he could top off the Henn...he said it'd be a double if he did....seriously?!? $8 - Incredible Hulk and Vodka Tonic. $11 - Black Opal. Definitely on the pricey side...this isn't Vegas. DJ's - They play top40, I wish they did a bit more to keep the crowd going and/or shorten the songs a bit (people in clubs have ADD) to keep the vibe going. Either way dance floor was always packed. Tables - I didn't do it, but I glanced it. They appeared to have good service, but if I got a table for the night. I wouldn't appreciate all the traffic by my table. Bathrooms/etc - Bathrooms surprisingly were clean and easy to get to throughout the night...and no annoying bathroom attendant to tip for giving you a paper towel. Overall, I may come visit again. But only if I had a fun group to go with. I see a lot of potential with Trinity, but I think they still got a lot of work to do. ~G p.s. On a side note my friend got kicked out of the club for a misunderstanding with the bartender...just figured I'd throw that in there.

If Ear Inn was any better, I might be dead today. I went to this fine historic establishment last night for one of my many "last nights" out in NY with coworkers and I drank my face off. 7 (imperial) pints of Guinness and some fried dumplings for dinner, does not a good morning make. Although the dumplings were very tasty and probably saved me from uncertain death... I had a wonderful time last night. The bartenders were all very nice. Buybacks are frequent. The atmosphere is lively, but not crazy. And although it's as old as they come, it didn't feel run down and decrepit! I'd definitely go back and take friends, if I was staying in NY longer that is. One of the many reasons I'll miss this amazing city.

You know what? I like this place. We had a bunch of mojitos (who calls multiple mojitos "a bunch?") that were delicious, and our bartender was so nice.. not even a little snobby. We moved onto a decent bottle of white, and because it was Wednesday, also got a free cheese plate, that came with crackers and fruit and nuts and chocolate! Cute space, neat windows, tidy bano. The furniture is pretty, but you know, i think our sofa weighed about 10 lbs. I felt like the Hulk when I moved my chair a little closer to the almonds. And feeling like the Hulk does not a pretty girl make.
