by Shyam S. on When my sister first mentioned this place, my reaction was, "Huh? I've never heard of a N'Awlins restaurant in the Old Fourth Ward." And yet there it was on Saturday, a beautiful, restored building with high ceilings that gave me a feeling of nostalgia for the South. It would be unfair to call Parish an exclusively Cajun or Creole restaurant even though there are touches of that region throughout the decor and menu (hot beignets, anyone?) Much of what makes food from this part of the U.S. so great is that it is unflinchingly Southern - grits, shrimp, bacon, etc. - but the tastes and presentations are also decadent and truly from New Orleans. Our server, Chance, was quite a charmer too and as we chatted about the weather and "Breakfast at Tiffany's," it was hard to imagine that we were actually NOT enjoying this conversation and meal in Jackson Square. My guests and I enjoyed the breakfast/brunch and we all enjoyed our eggs, hash browns, biscuits, turkey bacon and of course, beignets. My sister raved about the fresh orange juice and said it reminded her of "sweet lime" juice from India. It is a real thrill to have this restaurant tucked away in a remarkable awesome neighborhood in Atlanta, so close to other great restaurants. I will definitely be returning and look forward to trying their lunch and dinner options.

by King Crisafi on Pretty much all you need to know: When the guy on the mike asked who was from San Jose, the crowd roared. Meh. Among them were plenty of people who couldn't hold their booze, people who dropped their glasses on the floor for us to step on, and one, ah, well endowed female whose surgically enhanced chest might have weighed more than me. Gross. Drinks are priced like we should be in NYC or Miami, but unfortunately without a NYC or Miami crowd. Second star is for a great decor and the smarts to book someone like the incredible Chuck Love. Here's hoping his next SF trip is somewhere else.
