by Peter D. on The meatpacking district is cool. Way cooler than me. I was cool some years ago. I'm from the days of Limelight, Palladium, and the Tunnel where going to a club was an event. Hidden rooms, different floors, coed restrooms, made these clubs special. To describe Cielo as a club is misleading. It's really more of a lounge that plays house music as opposed to, well, loungy music. The dance floor at Cielo is small. Really small. There are better places to go to in the MPD. I don't smoke anymore but they have an outdoor smoking area which is great for those that do.

We went back with a bunch of friends to check whether it was the same. And he says no. It's not as good as it used to be. Which is the case with most clubs Good in the beginning and shitty as it becomes more popular. We all got there a little early and ended up opening the dance floor. Haha. Cover charge is the standard $20 and the drinks are on an average of $8 (the vodka-tonic-red bull club comination) It's separated into 3 dance floors, each of which has different music playing. One plays current hip hop and the likes, the other plays techno and the third plays Latino music, ergo, salsa, samba et all. The bartenders are nice. Plus, it always helps if you know how to flirt. Not that your drinks will be free, but you will taste alcohol and not water. Meh, it's just another club.
by Brunilda Larabell on The owner of the bar is great - she set me up for my 30th birthday in a really cute spacious private room w/private bar and I had a blast. She put out decorations and party hats too! Great place for a bday party - there's elbow room and the levels of the jukebox don't damage the ear drums. Great drinks, the food is good - all in all a great place!
