by B J. on Maybe it wasn't the place for me, I just know that the drinks were over priced, and it was a little bit snooty - it seemed like when I went to order a drink the lady bartender was all too happy to get him one, when I went to order one she was super cold and snooty. It was kind of stuffy, I don't know I just didn't get a good vibe from the place in general.
by Kerstin Cuffe on I expected this place to be good. And it is. At least the decor is. The energy is tepid and the music is so so. I went on a Friday night so it wasn't surprising to see it crowded; perhaps a weekday would have been better. The VIP area upstairs was roomy, so it made for a great escape to move around and liberate your extremities without excusing yourself. The downside and the reason for the 2 stars is that there are way too many guys, many of the dudes don Affliction gear like they are advertising they are training to be future MMA fighters. San Diego, my hometown, has a plethora of fighters, but don't peacocking at clubs with fighting branded apparel. With respect to it being racist to Asians, I didn't experience it nor did my non-white friends - not to say they don't practice it at the door. I met the owner and he's not white, he's was actually a pleasant chum. I would be leery to draw any conclusions from a few accounts. Sometimes clubs in general, (especially posh ones that want to retain their exclusivity) discriminate large groups to maintain a balance.
by Mike V. on Okay, so we should all know by now that the level of fun at a Club has many factors: the promoting group, the area, the size of the club, the people you are with, and the music being played....I will be reviewing THE PLACE AND PLACE ALONE while still giving details of other stuff... This place has three music rooms and a lounge type area...The lounge area has seating available, a few tables and a bar, which is perfect for people that wanna go out for drinks, wanna hear music, and might just have the nerve to dance a lil as well... As for the three rooms, one is pretty decent size. It's not the length of NV, but it's decent nonetheless. It also holds a stage where you can often find go-go dancers and of course, a bar.. One of the room upstairs holds it's own bar as well, but the size of the dancing space is greatly smaller than that of downstairs. The last room is also pretty small and has no bar, but the lounge connected to it does. Both of these smaller rooms have it's own individual seating/lounge area, sometimes reserved for VIP or special parties... The night I went which was THIRD FRIDAY of the month, the main room played hip-hop/top 40/bay hits...the younger and immature stayed down here...lol...One of the smaller rooms played salsa/marengue (sp?)/ect...and the last room played more old school hip hop (meaning 90's early 2000's) and less "Club Bangers" I'm not too sure if it's the same party every Third Friday, but I wouldn't mind coming back and checking it out another time... More importantly, the drinks weren't all too expensive, but also not all to strong...Good thing I was already kinda drunk when I walked in... Have fun reading all of this review...lol
