Nick's was featured on the 7x7 list of things to try before you die, so of course I wanted to venture and try it, but never got the chance to go. Not until rateclubs featured a coupon for $20 worth of food and drink for $10!! What a perfect opportunity, lets GO! What we ordered: Pescado Taco: baja style fried fish in a corn tortilla with salsa, lime mayonnaise, cilantro, cabbage & onions Carnitas Taco: braised shredded pork in corn tortilla with pico de gallo & pinto beans Carne Asada quesadilla: grilled steak folded in a crispy flour tortilla with pico de gallo and jack cheese Elote corn on the cob done up the mexican way, with grated cheese and chili powder be sure to order all your tacos Nick's Way! any taco made crispy with jack cheese and guacamole the tacos were nice and crispy, with each bite loaded with meat and guac! Delish! the drizzling of the lime made it even tastier! The fish taco was by far the winner of our whole meal, with the lime mayo. The fish was lightly battered, and moist; mM salivating just thinking about it! The Elote was also very tasty. It came out piping hot, loaded with chili powder and cheese. Make sure you have a drink handy before trying to devour this treat. The only downside to this experience was the steep pricing of the tacos.  I didn't expect that our tab would be ~$32 for 3 tacos, quesadilla, corn and a drink. I would come back, but probably not as frequently as I would like. When you go, be sure to be aggressive to fight for a table with chairs, cause they're a rare commodity!

My girlfriends and I had dinner here during DineLA Restaurant  Week.  We arrived over an hour late for our reservation due to traffic coming from OC.  After checking in, the maitre d' asked us to check out the bar while they're waiting for an open table for us.  While waiting at the bar, we ordered a delicious bottle of pinot noir.  As I was sipping on my glass of wine, I was watching the bartendar mix various drinks that looked so yummy.  I couldn't help but keep asking him what type of concoctions he was putting together. Finally, after waiting for about 30 minutes plus for our table, we finally were seated at a table right next to their fireplace.  Initially, we were planning on trying the three-course meal offered during the special, but everything on the menu sounded so enticing that we each ordered their 8-course meal where you can customize it by selecting any 8 items on the menu.  If you add any type of lobster or wagyu dish to the menu, it would cost an additional $15/pp per item. I do not recommend their lobster pot pie which is supposed to be one of their most popular dishes.  They were very cheap on the lobster and I probably got one whole bite and also the potatoes used in this dish were undercooked and hard.  The pot pies at KFC are way better and for much less.   However, the remaining 7 dishes that we ordered were pretty tasty.  Here are the rest of the items we tried: Appetizers: Nantucket Bay Scallops (decent) Ahi Tuna Tartar (had better) Tataki of American Wagyu Skirt (delish) Entrees: Striped Bass (a tad salty) Tai Snapper (yummm - my fav of the night) Jidori Chicken (tasty) Piedmontese Filet Mignon (perfect) Overall, I thought the food was pretty good, the cocktails and wine were good, the ambiance is nice and they have pretty good service. We ended up spending about $145/pp for an 8-course meal and several cocktails each.  I would have rather spent this kind of money at Mastros Steakhouse or Cut for a more satisfying meal.
