My tweet to DJ Tina T during NYE while at Atmosphere: @djtinat why is some fat asian guy dj'ing at Atmosphere and not you?!?! Her reply to me at the end of the night: @briant***** hahahaha! Happy New Year :) Hope we met at some point tonight. 1) She didn't answer my question. I still to this day don't understand why a fat asian guy was DJ'ing on the second floor while I saw DJ Tina T just standing there in the back. I really wanted to see her do her thing while I was still sober and coherent. I didn't pay for bottle service to see some unknown dude push play on his iTunes playlist! and 2) I really wish I did meet her that night because she is damn cute! My NYE night here was full of questions just like the one I posed to DJ Tina T... "Why is the line for the people who purchased bottle service moving slower than the super long general admission line?" "How come there's a couple dressed up like Adam & Eve just standing there and not doing anything?" "Why are the balloons for the balloon drop only situated on the far end of the room?" "Why is the venue so small?" "How come there's no House music being played?!?!" Fortunately though, even with all the negativity floating around in my head, I had a phenomenal time! Karen and Marissa were excellent hostesses. They were prompt with all of our requests and were extremely nice and accommodating. The crowd was very diverse, which is a huge plus in my book. The people I met were really friendly and I had no sightings of any douche-baggery being committed by anyone. My friends that I hung out with...what can I say...I wouldn't want to have spent NYE with any other group of friends! It was definitely a memorable night! Now if we can take all the positive things and put them in a different venue and call that place Atmosphere as well, then we're onto something!

I was really looking forward to going here last night after reading the reviews, but unfortunately I can now confirm that the place is frat boy hell and filled with drunk, slutty-looking girls in too-short dresses. (Offended by that? Then you just might be one of them.) I didn't end up staying that long, which was a good thing -- I might have completely lost my hearing. People kept picking late 80's and mid-90's favorites that gave up the ghost a decade ago, yet somehow the whole bar was still scream-singing them over the insane volume of the music. Case-in-point: A friend was standing less than a foot away and she had to yell in my ear to be heard. It's that loud. Add the fact that the aforementioned girls are dancing with their drinks, and you get a mini Gin & Tonic shower just by standing near them. Fun times. Not to mention it's way the heck in Tribeca next to what looks like another bar populated by drunk, slutty girls (the Anchor, I believe). Not recommended unless you're actively looking for some bump-and-grind from the fratty types that hang out here.
