by Greg and Tracy Q. on Sure, Pure does look out of place on 6th street but, to an out of towner like myself, it was a breath of fresh air. Don't get me wrong I've fully endulged in just about every drinking establishment that downtown Austin has to offer, my friends and I considered Pure as a staple of our nighttime experience. As great as 6th street is, being from Chicago, sometimes we wanted to see girls dressed up with a little more effort put in than say.....a girl that only planned to go to Spill or Latitude. Nothing wrong with those places. But Pure semi-reminded us of home with the decor and experience. Only semi though. Still a good time and if your out on 6th street it's worth the visit. It may or may not be for you but at least you were saved the hassle of going to a place like Pangea. -Greg
by Ashley Pargman on The rooms and song selection were fine with me. But the service--ohhh, the service. They are such money-hungry jerks! They wouldn't take small groups because they wanted to make more money off larger groups. My friend and I were fortunate enough to meet a nice group of 4 (who they wouldn't take, either) to make it 6 of us, after which the workers magically found us a room. I didn't have to pay, (thank you awesome random people we met) but I believe they charged extra since we were a large group, too! It was a fun night, but the process of getting the room was such a hassle, and their motivations were so blatantly selfish--I would not want to come here again. Five stars for the fun company, negative 4 for the lengths we had to go to to get a room!
by Nana A. on It's much nicer to stare at this (bar, club, lounge - or whatever it is) from the outside, than it is being in there. A friend had a birthday celebration here, and although we had reservations, they were scrambling for people to leave before we could get tables. We had finger foods - nothing great I assume, because I don't remember what it tastes like (and I wasn't drinking that night). On the inside, the music was crap and there was a young, immature crowd hanging out, mixed with a bunch of drunk pervies. But i liked the setup / decor and the whole outside area, which is why it earns my three stars.
