(3.5 STARS) Well, in terms of crowded standing-only concert venues in NYC, I think I'd rather come here again than go to Terminal 5 EVER again. 1.) There is a waiting area with a bar that the benevolent ticket checkers let you stay in if you get there before doors open, because they don't want you to freeze to death outside. (Awwwww.) 2.) The second floor boasts a very nice unisex multi-stall bathroom, complete with a kind woman who hands you towels, candy, toiletries, whatever you need! 3.) The standing room only area in front of the stage was much smaller than that of Terminal 5, I felt, but I liked it better that way, actually. Not to say I wasn't being mushed and moshed into like at any other venue, but at least I wasn't overwhelmed. 4.) Speaking of moshing, the wood floor beneath my feet felt very wobbly at times as a multitude of 200 pound, six foot tall 18 year old ska kids carelessly flung their bodies around the area with little disregard for anyone else. I'm thinking, "Great. This is how my life will end: I'll die in a floor collapse caused by a raucous mosh pit. Just what I want in my obituary..." 5.) EXCELLENT acoustics. I saw Best Coast perform and it was damn near perfection. I am happily willing to see more shows at Webster Hall in the future. I'll try to pick ones where I think the least amount of moshing will happen, however. A nice R & B, neo-soul show, perhaps...

Solid spot all-around - had New Year's, my birthday, and random nights in-between there and the incriminating photos do it minimal justice. The cabaret lounge meets dressed up speakeasy downstairs works for those in need of a more intimate fiesta among friends.

Are the five stars for the club or the fact that I forever love any venue at which I listen to Ted Leo and the Pharmacists? Great place regardless. Tip your bartenders well. We asked for a double and he told us they only have these small glasses, plus a double costs $11. He countered with, "how about a make you a "really" strong single for the regular price." Well deserving of the tip, very. Try parking up chestnut. It's only 2 or 3 blocks and while very steep, you'll be drunk/"tipsy" when you head back up so only the driver will complain about how steep it is. Plus you can stop at the art school half way up and sit by the fountain for a while. Too many bars to count and no waiting (like the GAMH, which I still love) Elevated stage, and the room is wide but not too deep. My date was about 5'5" and could see perfectly from the back. If you are anything around 6 feet+ you will have a great view. Tables are nice but the ones on the floor don't have nearly the same awesome views as the ones on the sides or in the back by the larger bar. ATM in the lobby and cash only bars fyi. Plenty of places outside the main room to relax and chat. Haven't had the dinner option so I'm not sure whether it's fantastic or forgettable.
