Pluses: $6 for Yuengling, good liquor selection, very friendly staff, and a great space (they manage to have two bars and enough space for mingling/dancing--truly a commendable use of NYC real estate), close to the subway, and not too crowded. Minuses: Far from everything else (kind of--SoHo west of Sixth Ave is kind of a ghost town on the weekends except for the few bars in the area), awkward crowd (so many girls who couldn't handle 3" heels or guys who didn't get the memo that striped button downs over solid-colored t-shirts went out with Bush II), and the men's room was just a toilet, urinal, and sink with no lock. Maybe I'm a bit prudish, but I like more privacy than that.

I thought the 12th Air Command was a decent bar...only because it dared to be different by the others with having arcade games. LOL! But, hey, isn't it fun to play Ms. Pac-Man while buzzed?!? Yeah, let's see if you can beat my high score! Mmmm-hmmm, I thought so! Anyways, I do have to agree with the others about the patrons there. My friends and I walked in there and everyone turned to checked us out like we were fresh meats to, at least, a little lick of taste. Gawd, what a freaky, awkward moment that was! But then, they soon turned away and went right back to their own worlds and dramas. I mean, there was this guy walking around the bar really fast, chasing someone. Ugh, high school? And, much to my surprise, he worked there! O......k! And I have to agree with Erin below. I never realized it until she mentioned it. Yes!!!! There are mirrors in just about every gay bars in Philly! What. Is. Up. With. That?!?!?!? Other than that, 12th Air Command is different by being a little fun with arcade games, mirrored decor and "youthfulness".

truthfully, i've only partied there on thursday nights when they have their 1984 bash, but if you're looking for a blast from your 80's past, this is certainly the spot. they'll be no shortage of cure t-shirts and flock of seagulls haircuts.
