I am a New Yorker-and I want to be treated with class-but didnt feel that I was treated good at all in this place. They overpacked the place, the bartender wasnt giving you a drink unless you showed her a tip in hand, the bouncers ALL frequently pushed you out the way, THE CROWD WAS TRASH!! Black bouncers=letting their boyz in with jeans and boots on. C'mon now Marquee used to be classy-but they threw this place to the dogs. Lots of low-class, hood ratty, ghetto trash types. Not for me. I may not be able to get my $175 back but trust me Marquee is not worth it anymore!!!! they let it go.
by Darin Stains on Came here for a birthday gathering. It was the first time I'd been here since they remodeled. The place looks amazing...but I do miss the old academy because it reminds me of my old elementary school days when we used to go there for field trips. Seeing the academy at night is a pretty cool experience. Its also a great place to people watch. A lot of couples on dates, single guys and girls and a bachelorette party. The big negative was when I ordered drinks at the drink station. I ordered 2 Sierra Nevada's and the bartender tells me its $14. I had to do a double take on the menu because it read $6 for domestic and $7 for imported. I questioned him about the Sierra's being a domestic and he tells me that "they" considered it an imported beer because the quality is better. I found that kind of bizarre and the bartender says, "I'll tell you what, I'll give them to you for $13, save you a dollar." At that point, I knew I was getting hustled but instead of causing a scene since there was a line of folks behind me, I decided to let it go. Tips to remember: Buy tickets online before you go and save yourself some time. Look for parking a block away and save yourself $11. Get there early so you can check out the Planetarium (I missed it) Have drinks at the local bars in the inner Sunset before you go in.
