This place should be called Ruins, not Temple. It's a disastrous mess. I didn't even bother with the upper two floors because I hate techno music and middle management types. The lower floor was dark, dank, and stank. It was littered with rejected pole dancers, pimply awkward types, heavily made up cougars, and boys rocking nonprescription black glasses with tape in the middle, bow ties, and suspenders. That's an absolute no go, papi. Table service was pretty good but most people don't seem to understand the notion of it. I had several broads sitting down next to me at my table like its a damn MUNI stop. Burly bouncers aggressively got rid of them but that only served to make the scene even more ridiculous. They might as well put out folding chairs and plastic milk crates. I really don't understand the appeal of this venue, with all the other really live joints SF has to offer.

I checked out this place this past Friday and it wasn't too bad. Cover was 15 bones due to guestlist "discount." The normal cover is $20. The bouncers and promoters surprisingly didn't have an attitude (don't get me wrong, they weren't nice or professional but hey, I'll take that treatment in a heartbeat at a Manhattan club). The place had lots of girls and the age group was probably around mid 20's. Ladies drink for free until 11pm...so guys, show up at 11:01 to finish the job that the free alcohol started! Overall, this place was ok, nice layout, spacious and was able to take a piss without stepping in a puddle of 4 day old urine.

If I could I'd review Club Waziema twice, as a bar and as a restaurant. As a bar, it's an actual bar, with real distilled spirits; As far as I know it's the only place on the long dry stretch of divisadero between The Page and The Fishbowl where you can drink anything with vodka or gin or whiskey in it. There are a dozen or so beers on tap; nothing too exotic, though there are a few ethiopian beers available in bottles. There's a front area with the actual bar and a dozen small tables, and a back area with a pool table and a few more tables and chairs, separated by 15 foot long dark hallway. The front is (literally and figuratively) warm and noisy; the back is more relaxed. The weeknight crowd was sporting a few more trucker hats and ironic tees than I'd look for in a regular spot, but they ain't hurting nobody. The lighting is dim and yellowy and the wallpaper is the coolest I've ever seen. I'd hump it even if I was only getting sloppy seconds after drue was done humping it. The whole place sort of looks like Van Goghs 'The Night Cafe' only with happier people. As a restaurant, The food is fresh and the stewed chicken in particular is tender and the injera is light and not too sour, but it all could use a bit more spice; I don't eat ethiopian all that often but I remember everything being a little sharper and more pronounced. Everything sort of tasted like everything else. And while the service was fine at first, they appeared to forget about us completely later on. Eventually someone from our table had to get up and remind them that we intended to pay for the food we ate; We probably could have left without incident if we were scammier. It is my opinion that this is a 4 star bar and a 2.5 star restaurant; As the sign out front says 'Cocktails' and Rateclub categorizes it as night life, I'm going to consider it a bar with food service. Only skip the food unless it's a slow night and you're hungry and patient.
