I have lived in Atlanta for almost two years, and have somehow avoided buying fried chicken. It could be due to my overall dislike for anything fried, but I decided to break that trend with a visit to South City Kitchen after I heard that this is fine southern cooking. The abstinence paid off, because that fried chicken is easily the best southern dish I've had in a long time. The chicken they say is "buttermilk fried" and is placed on top of mashed potatoes and green beans. Delectable. And nice and fried. For desert, I discovered banana pudding, something else I've forsaken in the south. It was okay, as deserts go. I've never had banana pudding before, so I have nothing to compare it to. From what I had and what other people said about their dishes, this is an upscale southern eatery, which I will definitely like to go for-- at the very least for their fried chicken!

I've been to the DNA lounge for 3 separate types of events, and would say that it's a great place... as long as you pick the right night to go! A) Gwar Show: this was my first visit. I have a friend who loves Gwar and opened me up to the whole experience... it was a good place to see this show in particular because it's very dark, pretty spacious (there's a big, open dance floor, an upstairs balcony, and a back upstairs lounge with its own bar and dance floor). B) Pop Rocks: an electro-/british/indie/new wave dance party night they have here once a month. The music was incredible! Again, great for dancing because you have the main room plus the upstairs lounge, which is smaller and has mirrored walls, which we found kind of sexy. C) Regular Friday night: Sucked! They played "mash-ups" style music. Some good songs mixed with some HORRIBLE songs...hip-hop and rappy stuff, and even some top 40 and...Miami Sound Machine! And the funniest thing was, it looked like there were all these underage kids there, dancing to the Miami Sound Machine like they'd never heard it and thought it was an "ill new track" haaaa! Good for some comic relief, but that quickly wore off. PLUS...there's usually a cover, plus drinks are costly, so choose wisely if you're going to go to DNA. I'd recommend only going on Pop Rocks night or if there's a special show here you want to see. Also...not a great neighborhood, for bar-hopping or in general. It's kind of out there in the middle of nowhere.

AMAZING! Old Hollywood Glamour sets the scene for the whole hotel. I loved the history of the hotel and the amazing photography and stories posted thru out the hotel. The pool is amazing, and the fact that Marilyn Monroe did her first commercial shoot there was a nice factoid to learn while we were out there. The Tropicana Bar was the bomb, great pool side service! The rooms are comfortable, big, and trendy. The mini bar made my sister happy! Redbulls, coffee, patron, oreos, ya know...the essentials. I was here for work, but it felt more like a vacay. I would LOVE to come back!
