One of the most memorable meals that we've eaten. Leave your fears at the door and trust the chef to feed you well. We had over a dozen dishes and each one was delicious and beatifully prepared. An astounding friendly place. Go. You won't forget it.

111 Minna is either really cool, or way too noisy and congested, depending on what event is going on and what night of the week it is. I've seen some GREAT work here from up-and-coming local artists...it's a cool place to stop in, especially when there's a group show (like FecalFace, for example), if you want to check out some new artists. (Josh Keyes had a piece here, just last year! #@!$%!!) Sometimes it's super crowded, and sometimes it isn't...I think Friday nights in general are pretty hectic, especially as this place has grown more and more popular in the last year or so. There's also a back room with a DJ area and dance floor, and when this is closed for private events it makes the front more cramped. The ladies' room used to be painted wall-to-wall with an awesome mural by Bigfoot, but unfortunately it has since been painted over with something a little more frou-frou and girly. The DJ in the main room is always WAY TOO LOUD!!! You can't hear your friends talk, and it really hurts you ears to stand anywhere in his half of the room. The music is pretty good, though. Nice big bathroom, not too long a wait at the bar, cool bartenders, and a generally pretty cool place, though. This place draws kind of an older crowd, mostly of professionals who like art, graphic designer types (probably because there are several firms in the neighborhood). Good for standing around letting off some steam after work, having a few drinks and getting ready for whatever is going to be your real plan for the rest of the night!

While I don't love this place, it has an ability to make you completely forget about the outside world as soon as you walk through the door. The atmosphere is great, very loungy and sexy and the music is good. When I've been here for drinks and to hang out I've had a pretty good time - especially when it's not too crowded. Now food - different story! I came with a date on a weeknight (maybe Thursday) realively early. I want to say it was maybe 8:30 or so? Even though we had reservations and most of the tables were empty we were told we were going to have to wait, and the hostess wasn't exactly nice about it. We got a drink at the bar, and were taken to our table within 10 minutes or so by the same hostess who now seemed to be in a better mood. We had an entire section to ourselves, so I am not sure what the holdup was in the first place. I felt like we were being rushed to order - the waitness came over 3 times in a very short period of time. We got duck rolls as an appetizer - they were ok - not amazing, and I had the tuna main course which was pretty good, but again not amazing. I wouldn't recommend eating here as it was not the most pleasant experience, but its a fun place for a drink or two earlier in the night, before it gets crowded.
