One of the "nicer LA type" of lounges. I came here to check out Paul Ritch on a Thursday night of LE Weekend. The location is on a small "side street" or what I like to call alley way. DECOR: Dark (yes you can look fine as fawk up in this joint), intimate and keeping to its "vessel" theme.  I realized the plush little pods we were sitting on resembled those large things that boats tend to be tied down to (whats the word for it?).  Plenty of ample seating AND you can dance on the tables. Any club that lets you dance on tables w/o getting the dirty eye from the bouncer gets a 4star in my book.   Unisex bathroom (but all had private stalls, yes ladies and gentlemen you CAN drop a deuce.. LOL). SOUND SYSTEM: It was okay, sometimes a bit too loud and you can feel the bass vibrate on to you.  The lighting goes from dark to light to dark which can be cool.  They have lighting that moves underneath the vip platform and also the bar. PATIO: Supermall and can fit maybe 5 people max, it gets real smokey tho since it is covered.  My friend asked the front door guy upstairs if we could just stand outside and smoke and he was happy to oblige. STAFF: The guestlist girl outside the door was an absolute doll.  I had just arrived into SFO and didn't have a chance to eat yet and I asked her if we could get our tickets first and then go eat and come back and she was fine with that. CROWD: Upscale (not dresses, but nice jeans and nice top - not too much hoochie gear here).  Yes the crowd is a bit EURO and a mature crowd (mid to late 20's here).  I actually felt like I was in LA.  There was a gang of Persian/Middle Eastern people that night which was fine.  Overall it was a chill crowd.  To possible SF people, they may feel the vibe being a bit stuck up, but it just felt like home to me. Definitely go for the music and go with your own group of friends.  I'm not sure if this is a minglin kinda spot. Open Svedka Vodka Bar until 10:30PM on Thursdays. Aww yah~! :)

DO NOT EAT DINNER HERE!!! If I were reviewing this just for dinner, I'd give it one star.  But this is a so-so place to get drinks.  The glasshouse-ish area is chill on weekday nights. I went there for dinner finally.  It was the worst service I've had in New York.  Food was mediocre to sub-mediocre.  Let me break down my evening: - We were seated about a half hour after our reservation. - It was about 10 minutes until someone came and offered us water. - 15 minutes from when we sat down until our waiter came to our table. - They brought 4 pieces of bread out for 6 people. - We ordered 2 pitchers of Sangria.  Our waiter brought 5 glasses for 6 people. - We realized our waiter (and all the waiters) would walk around and intentionally not look at people, he would look straight ahead and up so you couldn't get their attention.  It was like they didn't want to be bothered. - They brought our salads out with our meals. - My pasta was overcooked.  It wasn't horrible, but definitely not $15. - Beet salad was perhaps worst beet salad.  Mint vinaigrette did not taste good with the salad at all. - Waited about 15 minutes after we were done eating for waiter to come back. - We gave him 6 credit cards. He looked at them, walked away and then came back and said they only take 2-3 cards.  WTF?  Why didn't he tell us when we gave the cards originally?  He saw 6 cards. We had 8:30pm reservations and didn't leave until after 11:30pm.

It's Avalon meets Cabana Club. (Tropical mediterranean patio outside, with a huge stage and flanking dance floor inside) Was here last night for my first time for a free show by Midnight Juggernauts (they put on a sick show by the way) sponsored by Scion and the night didn't really start off too well. Got to Hollywood with friends close to 10 PM, parked, and realized I didn't have my ID or credit card on me. *kicks myself* So I had drive half an hour back home to the SGV, and then another half hour back to Hollywood. What a pain in my yellow ass. Needless to say, it was time to get drunk immediately... Luckily, we were already RSVP'd and had our wristbands held for us so I was saved the hassle of waiting in that massive line...just walked right up to the bouncer, got groped by a security guard checking for weapons, and in we went! Two large bars well staffed...me like. But with a $40 minimum to open a tab? Damn. At least it aided in the acceleration of debauchery! There's something about me getting hammered at Hollywood clubs that my body completely takes over and I have zero control. I was like a rag doll on the dance floor, shaking it down like a bucking bull, sweating 3 gallons left and right and stepping on toes...altogether a hot mess. Had such a great time. Mixed crowd last night...lots of people down to rock out and dance. None of that "stand around to be seen" type crowd like at Les Deux. Didn't look like they did any of that typical Hollywood table service shanans...mostly a first come first serve free-for-all. Got to talk with some of the band members of Midnight Juggernauts after the show and close to closing and they were really cool. Make sure you check out their music. It's indie-electronica.
