Despite (or perhaps because of) seeming to be more of a New York or LA club, Trigger is a welcome addition to the Castro scene, and brings a very different vibe. The decor is chic and elegant (industrial chic, as I call it), as is the staff. I've only sampled their appetizers a few times, but what I've tried was very yummy -- and the fact that they have cooked appetizers during happy hour is awesome. During happy hour, they provide portable ottoman-like seats and cocktail tables that can be removed when the club gets busier later in the evening. Though they have a dance floor, it's rather small and awkward even when the seating is removed. I don't smoke, but many of my friends do, so when I evaluate a club's smoking area, I look to see the degree to which nonsmokers are impacted (both inside the club and when hanging out with their smoking friends). In this, Trigger gets five stars. The smoking area is fully enclosed in glass to prevent smoke from re-entering the club. A retractable door opens to the outside, allowing excellent ventilation and people-watching of street traffic. The one downside is that despite the glass between the club and the smoking area, it's hard to actually see the dancers and performances while in the smoking area. They have a nice variety of hot go-go boys (and occasionally girls), who dance at the corners of the bar as well as in an elevated cage behind the bartenders. The best part is Friday and Saturday nights around 11:30 when they have a brief show with a rope dancer doing an acrobat performance. There's just nothing else like it in the Castro.

I went on a Friday night last night and this place was fun! The cover charge for guys was $10 and idk how much for ladies. There are two game rooms we didn't venture into, one massive island bar room, a small smokers hall with a very small second bar on one side, and a very large dance hall with a decent sized third bar and a stage. The hip hop music and sound system were good but the room wasn't full enough until after midnight. And then to my surprise a band jumped into the mix, stage lights came on, and all attention was diverted to the stage. Fast Times covered all the right 80s pop and classic rock songs and the crowd and I loved them. I believe they're the regular Friday night band, and I would definitely bring a date there just to dance to that fun band. But it's also a great atmosphere to meet people on the big dance floor. I was surprised that half the crowd was Asian, but they and the other races represented were pretty attractive overall and most people seemed easy to approach and dance with. I definitely agree with another review that the dance floor was too hot. I repeatedly had to wash my face in the restroom and take breaks from the dance floor. My hair was a mess by the end and I felt self-conscious about looking like I was at the gym. But it's still one of the best clubs I've been to so far in Hollywood, after of course Monday at Les Deux and Weds at Boardner's.

Love Bimbo's. I've played here about 10 times and it has the best sound on stage anywhere, anywhere. they have a Meyer sound system, and its just amazing. The stage is 1/2 round, 3 tiered, and huge. The sound is amazing anywhere you are, and the bar is also fun (espcially when they have the hologram of the mermaid in the fish tank). Here is what it sounds like from the audience (turn it up): http://x31.net/theafte... I've also seen tons of bands here, but my fav are the big band, swing bands. specifically Brian Setzer Orchestra. Wow... If you have an opp, and a reason, i highly recommend Bimbo's. Enjoy...
