by Katie B. on The Edison is the pulse of Downtown LA. It was well-established before Downtown's explosive growth and it is still holding its own. The interior is out of this world. Nothing holds a candle to the decor of this exquisite place. It's the quintessential tall, dark, and handsome man of your bar dreams. They serve food and pretty spectacular booze. I've never had an issue getting in because i go on off nights, so the lack of one star isn't due to any clipboard wielding man, it's mostly due to the higher than thou attitude of the bartenders. Even on a slow night they act far superior to the guests, but you know what? I would too if i worked at a place like The Edison.
by Aubergine R. on Have been to Yoshi's Oakland many times for the shows and have eaten there a few times. I've been wanting to go to Yoshi's SF for a couple of years now, but haven't made the time to go. This review is only about the Jazz Club & service. We arrived for the 10pm show around 9:30pm. The lines were out the door and excitement was in the air. But after 40 minutes of waiting in line (we were the "lucky" ones who ended up at the doors & had to lean on them in order for them to stay open) everyone was wondering what was going on, and why they hadn't started seating. Once inside, our server came quickly, but brought my drink out 45 minutes into the show after coming by and saying "Sorry honey, I'll be right back with that" and never bringing waters though she had been asked twice. The show didn't start until 10:30pm. The Jazz Club was clean, the chairs were pretty comfy, the lighting and sound were excellent.
by Epifania Trojillo on You can't come here and expect it to be anything like the old casting office, but if that's possible, then I think anyone would enjoy this place. Most of the food that I've had here is really good, and the drinks are poured heavy and reasonably priced. The bartenders are super friendly, and the owner is always milling about with the patrons. They have a ping pong table which is different, and kind of fun to watch. Friday is the best night to go they open up the upstairs bar, which is nice for a quieter vibe and easier access to drinks when it's busy downstairs.
