by John K. on i've walked past here a million times and there are some nights where the crowd overspills out into the sidewalk and the place looks banging but it's in such a shitty area (of my hood). Last night a friend told me to come over and so I did and surprising it's not too bad. The bar area was dark, tight and crowded but the people were friendly and the peach tea vodka was delicious. Downstairs they were playing this weird mix of european tunes with a lot of bass but it was danceable. Then I made out with a cutie (that I was with) so.... 3.5
by Whitney B. on This is the best bar in all of Hollywood/Los Angeles, by far. All the staff, from the doorman, to the bartenders and manager are so welcoming. The piano player, Brother Sal, that plays on Saturday and Sunday nights from 11pm-2am is THE BEST. He can play the piano with more soul than anyone. Beachwood Rockers acoustic set on Wednesday nights is great; Tyler Heyes on Thursday nights is one of the best guitar players I've ever seen. I highly recommend this bar to anyone and everyone. I've searched high and low for a better place in Hollywood and nothing else comes close. If you're looking for a bar with a friendly environment, large smoking area, brilliant music, full bar, and an east-coast feel then this is your place.
by Tyler Manzo on Whenever I'm in the mood to check out a live soul show, I stop by SOB's website to see who is on their calendar. This is a great venue for seeing a live show, and not paying a lot for a ticket. Plus they have a bar where you can grab a drink and chill while waiting for the show to start. Seats are reserved for those who dine, and Ive only ate there once, the food was just okay. One of the best events is the monthly SOL Village show hosted by Eric Roberson. Every month for $10 you can see great upcoming soul acts and independent artists. Plus Eric Roberson is a great host, and if you are familiar with his music a great performer.
