by Sudheer S. on I wonder how it got 3 stars. First of all, the door men are very racist. I still don't know which race they are against. Very pricey and diluted drinks. Music is just OK. They are far better clubs in Meatpacking which have better music and service. Dont every try going here. Waste of your time.
by Elvis Pitpitan on Kind of a weird place. It has a great feel and I really dig the fact that I can come in for an ice tea while studying, and then if I stay too long the liquor cabinet opens up like a gift from the heavens to reward me. (Not that I've done that yet. If this place were in Berkeley, though...) I tried to ask for a glass of wine and after the girl futzed around for some time she said there wasn't any. Boo. I got a mimosa instead. It was pretty good. Their bar bites menu is fuckin' bougie, having stuff like $12 lobster tacos and foie gras. And there were no less than 6 new-model MacBooks or MacBook Airs there (and like one lone PC.) I have to admit I felt a bit out of place for this kind of establishment, but I guess it works for San Franciscans who have that kind of cash...
by Claudia A. on golden temple is one of the better "upscale chinese" restaurants i've been to. i'm not really getting all the negative reviews here, because while the food isn't out of this world, it's pretty dang good - and during my many visits there i've never had a bad experience with the waitstaff. some of my menu faves include the curry beef wonton appetizer (yum!), green tea noodles, spicy string beans and my old standby, general gau's chicken - it's one of the better ones i've had, and i've eaten more general gau's chicken than i'd like to admit. the drinks are good and strong - try the golden temple mai tai for a quick buzz - and it's great for family-style dining. i often bring my parents or out-of-town guests here and they always love it. finish it off with some of their chocolate-covered fortune cookies and i'm all set!
