by Ike Groth on First off, I love piano bars. Maybe it's the smooth sounds of a lounge singer crooning while tickling the ivories, or maybe, just maybe, it's the way a room full of drunken happy people sound while belting out Journey or Bon Jovi. Either way, it's something I really enjoy. The piano is set up in the back of the bar, and the piano itself is actually a table you can sit at. How cool is that?! I mean, you can sit right there and stare into the singers eyes while he or she serenades you. Though I wouldn't recommend it lest they think you were creepy and have you thrown out... On second thought maybe you should just stick to talking to your friends/fellow bar patrons... But I digress. The wait staff is fast and friendly. Perhaps a little too friendly(that's not my date's hand on my thigh...). I had a few beers(only two kinds on tap. Boo...). There is also a large selection of fruit-flavored cosmo martinis. My friends had a couple a piece, and I shamefully snuck a couple sips from each when they weren't looking. *shhhhh don't tell* As much as it pains me to admit, they were fruity, delicious, and refreshing as hell! Bottom Line: It's always a good night when you can sing along to Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline! Very chill spot, great entertainment, tasty drinks. Only down side is just two beers on tap... Definitely check this place out if you like piano/lounge bars!
by Tracy W. on Go Kat's! I checked this place out on a Thursday night with live band and nice!!! The place is too cute on the lower level of another place called: Hamlet. I did not even know that this place was sooo close to where I live I never paid it any ATTN. I literally pass by it when going to Piedmont Park to work out and never stopped. It's a cute DATE spot as well....cozy for two...hint..hint..wink I heard all about the great reviews of the drinks specials....which by the way, I will be returning on Friday nights for the $5 martini's.....Gota go back for the martini love! The food was gooooood as well and such a great price. I am a PIZZZZZA lover and yes, some people can mess-up pizza however Kat's Café got it right for a great price! 9'in pizza and hhhhhhhmmmmmmmm goooooooooooood. The only thing I can say about Kat's that needs improvement would be the service....the chic was taking forever in a day to work only "TWO" tables.....my table and the other table was looking at each other like: "okay, are you guys still waiting tooooooo"! LoL!!! Friday nights at Kat's here we come!
by Anna G. on San Francisco's great set of concert venues matches its awesome music scene, and Cafe du Nord is another great example. First of all, great acts come through there (and at the end of the day, what else do you really need?), and on top of that, there's great atmosphere and overall quality. The venue has a great underground, cozy feel to it - sexy, almost, if you want to go that far. The stage is set slightly lower than usual (at least it seems like that to me), which I think lets you feel more connected to the musicians, which is always a plus. However, if you get stuck behind a tall person (like me - I'd like to issue an umbrella apology to anyone who gets stuck behind me at concerts), it's slightly less enjoyable than at other places. Overall, though, the venue is quite lovely, and my experiences there have been nothing short of satisfying.
