Sushi was horrible, sat at the bar and out of the 4 sushi chefs NOT one of them spoke English nor did they want to serve me...was the WORSE experience I've ever had. They had this velvet rope directly along the backside of the cars of the sushi station next to the bar...if you need to rope off the area maybe you should relocate the area. Was a bad design area.

1) The spot that this replaced (Rhythm & Spice) was way mo' bettah 2) Always seemed overly snotty & pretentious to me 3) Every time I go by, it has a line. I refuse to wait in a line, particularly for a place that's pretentious & snotty. When they were putting the space together, I was somewhat interested as it seemed like a metrosexual/yuppie version of the Enormous Room (well, at least compared to what the ER was like back then, and on the m/y thing - that was something I was into at the time) but it looks like they just went and stole a bunch of furniture from Bo down the street, put a bunch of overpriced stuff on their menu and started artificially creating a line to generate buzz. All of this is a real shame as I love the owners' other spots (Miracle of Science right next door, Cambridge 1, Audubon circle)

I loved the concept of combining a bar with a cafe, but I didn't like the execution. I felt like I would have liked this place more if I was a college student. I saw many students with their laptops sitting at the tables near the window. SERVICE: Bad. Service could differ greatly based on the day and who is working at the establishment, so I don't let it influence my review too much, but I really hated the attitude of the bar tender here. It was so bad that I will probably never return to Sugar Cafe. Attitude is not something I could easily describe in words, so I won't get into it too much, but as I was observing her bad attitude, I thought to myself, I really needed to start kissing up to her so that I could receive adequate service. Then I remembered - hey, I am the paying customer. ATMOSPHERE: A nice fireplace, which is perfect for a cold day during the summer. Entrance area, with the two walkup computers, is pretty ugly. I know they designed it to be stylish, but I just didn't find the place cozy.
