by Eve C. on I think it was probably the time or maybe I am not into the music. We went last night for the birthday event. It was nice to have bbq but didn't stay too long for the dancing. I am unsure if I will go back. It is a hard place to find...drove up and down the streets couple times. The girl that was working the ticket box but not so much the guy taking the tickets. The dance space is HUGE.
by Camila Crosby on For some reason we always end up at Vertigo at the end of the night. I don't really know why because I don't like it that much and it's always hit or miss, but the drinks are always strong and there always guys to buy them for you. It's clubby without being overwhelming although it's definitely a pick up scene. The dance floor is small but I think that makes it more fun although the music is inconsistent. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's unrecognizable Latin hits from the 80's. Same with the crowd, sometimes there are lots of cool guys to talk to and sometimes there are weird guys in sailor suits with grills. There is a smoking porch in the back which is nice for the smokers and their mango margarita's are only $5 and they're strong. One time my friend asked for more alcohol in hers and they gave her a free pour on the house. Now that's what I call service. The downfalls are: -- the bathroom situation, one bathroom for the whole bar, are you kidding? --the cover charge, it's usually only $3 but it's annoying --the 1:30 itch where every guy in the bar attempts to find a hook up for the night and you get bombarded with drink and after party offers. It can be nice if that's what you're looking for. I really would give vertigo only 3.5 stars but I feel like being nice and it gets' an extra half star for being so close to my house. I really need to check it out earlier in the night because I'm sure it's a different experience than the drunken late nights I've had there....I'll report back.
