by Stephanie H. on When I went to dinner at Top Flr a few months ago I knew it was the perfect place to bring my "foodie" twin sister when she was in town. She loves complex drinks and Top Flr serves them up better than most other places I have tried. The atmosphere is cool and trendy; they were playing MGMT so I was in love. I ordered the Yellow Roses martini (very light and easy to drink), my sister had Piri Reis (tasted like Christmas), and her husband ordered The Byrne (everyone's favorite - Tequila and lime with a true burn at the end from the jalapeños). Food was tasty but a little expensive for the size of the plates - you're really paying for the ambiance - although the Mac & Cheese was to die for!!
by Trevor H. on Saw the Plump DJs here last weekend. Great music! I enjoyed mighty, but didn't love it. I could have sworn I read a flyer saying doors at 9pm so we caught an early train up to the city to avoid waiting in line. Doors ended up being 10pm. Not the best way to start. That could have been my bad. Once inside, I really enjoyed the space and party until it was too packed. I don't mind a crowd, but after 10 minutes of dripping sweat I had to go check out the outdoor area, which saved my life. I I think I spent more time outside than inside as the night went on. One of my buddies said it's usually not that hot and he thought the air conditioning was broken, so I'm willing to entertain another trip for the right DJ. (Ruby Skye on a non sold out night would be my point of reference for a dance floor at the right temperature btw.) Bottom line: I was looking for a club where our group could hang out and found a concert venue that was way too hot. But as with most nights out, the people and the music are what made it. I'll check it out again but didn't have the fun time I was hoping for.
