I adore Le Club. Situated in a chic Victorian apartment building atop of Nob Hill, it has an old school San Francisco charm that only comes with true authenticity. You see, Le Club used to be a private dining club where celebrity chefs like Michael Mina served the socialite crowd for over 30 years. Now with the vision of a new owner, it's open for all of us to enjoy. I love the fact that it still retains a little bit of that private club / speakeasy feel. C and I showed up without a reservation, but luckily spotted two seats in the lounge, and soon were relaxing with classic drinks in hand. The sidecar and the landscape (bourbon with orange liqueur and kahlua) hit the spot, and were a great compliment to the steak tartare, ahi tuna nicoise and escargot. The tartare was divine, the tuna quite lovely and the escargot, unfortunately, rather bland. The best thing about Le Club is... Gina! She served us with the genuine air of a friend and hostess, inquiring about our drinks, our food, and even remembering our names throughout the night. Come to find out, she's the owner. Now wonder. I don't think I've had a similar dining experience where I felt like I was actually visiting someone's home. Don't forget to ask for the tour -- you won't want to miss seeing the billiards room and incognito poker table. Three cheers for a wonderful addition to the City.
