Pros: No Cover Line moves quickly Nice interior I found street parking 1 block away (sf parking gods love me) Music not overly loud Cons: Music not very good. Nobody was dancing. I wouldnt call it a club. I wouldnt call it a lounge. Its lost somewhere in the middle. Identity issues. I didnt have a bad experience, but I'm not sure under what circumstances I would return/

Opera's nice. A converted old theater, the "house" is the main dance floor, with the "stage" hosting some VIP seating and the DJ booth. Bars line the sides, while the "lobby area" houses the restrooms and an additional dance room. One of the nice things about Opera is two large outdoor patio spaces, that, while connected, each have its own vibe. The crowd is a little glitzy, and the bouncers purposefully hold up the line, I think, to create one, but once inside, the atmosphere is nice. The night I visited, the main floor was spinning up a mix of house/trance and some classic rock, while one side patio had eurobeats going and the other room spun a latin mix of salsa, merengue, and reggaeton. The drinks are expensive though, and the bathrooms are very few. Apparently during the renovation process, they never bothered to add another set, leaving the several hundred patrons just one bathroom for each gender. I mean, when a straight club has a line for the men's room, you know there's just not enough urinals to go around. But it was a decent time. The cover, though...$20 is just a little steep.
