Trudy's is a campus area mainstay and I have many great memories from over the years. When I worked in retail some years ago, we used to come by after we closed up shop for drinks. Their Mexican martini is huge and potent, I can't handle tequila, but if you can, it's worth a try. Then in the early 00s, a friend and I would meet here for happy hour every week. The inside bar is dark and cool, a wonderful respite on a hot day. They would always valiantly try to make me my at the time favorite, a chocolate martini. Depending on the bartender, results were interesting. Another friend and I used to come for dinner and get the stuffed avocado, which is their most popular menu item. It's deep fried, heart destroying goodness. Then in 2007, while I was living in Portland, I came to town for a visit and a friend and I came to Trudy's for breakfast. They were offering up everything on the menu, so we tried the southern fried chicken breast. It was totally delicious and came with the most amazing biscuits, gravy and two other side dishes. I had to take half of it home. Last night, I went to dinner here with a few friends. My vodka and soda was perfectly mixed. The green chile chicken tacos were very tasty, they come with queso and sour cream, so how can you go wrong? Service was excellent. I don't think Trudy's has the best food I've ever tasted, but it is generally pleasant, filling and they serve large portions. The drinks are always strong and service is generally good. It's a reliable place for a fun time.

I will NEVER go back! They had us wait forever on a patch of grass like a herd of cows and then didn't let any of the Asians in. There was this really huge black guy in purple randomly selecting people he wanted to let in. When I asked one of the bouncers if we'd have to wait long, he said, "yes". I went with 8 other girls for a friend's b-day and we just ended up leaving along with many others. Don't plan on getting in without a table. The bouncers will just keep you waiting for hours on "the grass" whether or not you get there early. My House was way too hyped up. Such a disappointment in every way.

Absolutely horrible club and I will NEVER return. On Friday night I had a friend in town and we wanted to see Starkillers. I saw on their website that it would be free to get in before midnight, but I bought us tickets online just in case to insure we would get inside. We ended up getting there before midnight so they let us in for free without claiming our pre-purchased tickets. This was around 11:30. We then found out that the Starkillers wouldn't start spinning until 2:00. We decided to meet up with another friend who was down the street. Before we left we told them that we got in for free before midnight, but we bought tickets online that we hadn't yet redeemed. They told us we would have no problems getting back in. They were wrong. When we came back we went to the bouncer by the exit of the club and he told us we would have to enter through the front again. Ok... So we waited in the line for another 30 minutes. Once we get up to the door they tell us that we have already been inside, so we will need to spend another $35 each to buy tickets to get back inside. Um, what?! We tell every person working there our story about how we got in free before midnight, but we bought tickets online so we were told we wouldn't have a problem getting back in. Apparently no one cared. They yelled at us and told us either we pay another 35 dollars each, or we both could leave. I could not believe that people would treat others in this way. They were so disrespectful and rude to us. As we were on our way to leave, we saw another bouncer push a girl to the street for trying to get back inside and the police ended up getting called because of it. Ok venue, but they really need to teach their door people some manners. And apparently buying your tickets online is useless. Steer away from this god awful club.
