I have mixed feelings about Taverna Plaka. My first experience was a date night with my husband. We quickly learned that we had picked the wrong restaurant for a quiet date night! Greek techno music was playing in the background, servers and belly dancers were dancing around, and the service was slow. The last straw was one of the belly dancers dancing up in my husband's face looking for a tip. DON'T MESS WITH MY MAN!! Our second experience was much more fun. We went with a large group to celebrate a birthday. Same music, same dancing, but a lot more fun this time. The only downside is that the noise made it hard to talk to people, but the atmosphere is informal enough that we could get out of our chairs and walk around the table to talk to people. The food both times was forgettable, not bad, but not memorable.

I haven't quite made up my mind about the place. the decor is mediocre, music is mediocre. I have only been there once when I enjoyed the crowd. the other three times I was more scared than turned on by the guys there. I think the only huge upside to the place is it's a place to party for practically nothing if you're female. Actually, I it's a good place to "end up" with your girlfriends if everything else sucks for the night.
