this place is nice...its centrally located in midtown. i liked the restaurant a lot but thought they could improve on the quality of the food. the goat-cheese appetizer was definitely one of the reason i would go back.

Now there are a few things one has to get over before eating here. Not difficult things but things none the less. First, you won't be dining with 100 other strangers, standing in line five feet from the door for an hour waiting for a table, even on a Friday night. For some reason this place is tucked away. Leave it alone and appreciate it! If it bothers you, I suggest trying to have breakfast at Mamas instead, the food won't be as good but you can wait in line for two hours and be seated in a room where they completely ignore the City's occupancy standards. Second the place is all white on the inside, prompting the Miami Vice references if you read more reviews, but its designed after a temple (You'll notice the columns lining the sides of the dining room and the DJ getting set up in the "sanctuary" at the back), hence the name of the bar Temple it turns into at 10:00pm. Embrace it, wear a white linen suit with a tight pink t-shirt and brown loafers with no socks, the kids are all doing it! The food here is excellent, especially the empanadas and the lumpias. Plus they have an amazing coconut bread pudding, which if you read any of my other reviews, gives this place an extra star just for that! The service was impeccable thanks to Heather, our server. She was new but you would never have known it. One of the hidden gems is the wine list. No antitrust lawsuit style price gouging here folks! The markups on most of the wine bottles was not more than 15%. If you eat out enough in the city you know that the markup on wine bottles is usually at least 50% though most often more. The moment usually comes when anyone sees a $50.00 bottle of Kendall Jackson on the wine list and thinks to themselves, "Hey, don't we use that to cook with at home?" Thankfully most of the wine on their list is good and not overpriced. Parking is easy. I got a space within a block on a Friday night at 7:30pm. Try that in Nob Hill or the Marina at 7:30am! A word of caution, however, this place turns into a unce-unce club at 10:00pm (as mentioned previously). The silver lining though is that if you like unce-unce clubs you can dodge the crazy $20.00 cover on a Friday or Saturday night by showing up at 9:00pm for dessert. The dessert prices will cost you less than the cover charge (per person) no matter how many people you have and you get some excellent food while you're at it! Finally, as of 2/15/08 they put out some 20% off cards at the Hostess station when you walk in. grab one and use it on your meal that same night!
