by Sam J. on Average service, average music, average venue in general. They might be able to get away with that were there not a thousand other bars in the surrounding streets, but there are. Particularly unimpressed by the tiny roped off bar area and being sent back to it by an antisocial staff member after having been invited to join a table. You're probably better off spending the $5 cover charge at The Red Lion across the road or The Dove down Thompson St.

The garlic sauteed spinach gets two thumbs down. The rest was ok, pretty medicore and nothing I couldn't make at home. I also tried the watermelon champagne cocktail, very sweet and pretty but the tiny pieces of watermelon in there didn't make me too fond of it. The calamari was pretty yum and the server was verrry cute and nice.
by Willena Harnois on This restaurant lived up to the hype (and the hefty price tag). The decor is very modern, not at all your traditional Japanese place. It screamed trendy so we were worried that this wouldn't live up to the hype. We had the $120 omikase tasting menu (you can get it for $80, $100, $120). It was well worth it. Our favorite dishes included a thinly sliced scallop with olive oil so it tasted like foie gras , a yellowtail rosette with lemon citrus vinagrette, and sushi that was delicately rolled with love and real fresh wasabi (not fake-colored dye). The warm dishes were just OK -- we had a generous half lobster but it was a little unrefined because we had just been served beautiful delicated plates, and wagyu beef which had a little too much sauce for me to savor the beef. 6-8 courses for the tasting menu, and the more you spend the higher quality fish it is. Dessert was OK. Loved this place. We thought it was worth the price. Go Iron Chef!
