I might as well review this place before I get too old to roll out to a loud, flashy night club. Mezzanine is great for the City's up-and-coming twentysomethings to bump and grind during special events. My intro to Mezzanine was Spark's Black and Pink Ball in Oct. 2010 and the event fit the venue like a hand in a glove. That is to say, the Ball was the hand and Mezzanine was the glove . . . or some such. Whatever. The sound system is loud so don't come here expecting to make conversation with your date. That happens before and after, not during. I'm not hip enough to pretend that I'm too cool for Mezzanine so I had to try it once. It's a good place to put on a series of low-overhead social events.

I have previously been enamored with Amy's Ice Cream and can't really imagine giving it anything but 5 stars but my latest experience was just ok. Maybe it is the suburban location or maybe they have gone corporate on me with all their locations, but it seemed much more to me like Marble Slab this time than all my previous times. They didn't have as appealing flavors to me on the board as they usually do. Maybe it was just an off time for them or for me. I am still a fan and will seek out the Amy's Ice Cream whenever I am in the Austin airport or visiting Austin, but at least for this one experience I was less enamored than I have ever been before.

This place was so packed we couldn't even get a drink. Wasn't exactly sure why we came here but atleast we got hooked up and didn't have to wait in line or pay cover. Will have to come back to take on the full experience. This visit was too short lived.
