Ok so I have lived in this area for about 6 years and I decided to roll into this bar. Keep in mind i am a bartender so I am on the other side of the fence when I write reviews. I have never been in here before and it is only like 5 blocks from my house and I was not ready to go home yet. The giants vs dodgers game was on the big screen and I thought what the hell I will have a few drinks. Besides myself there where only a few people in here and 3 staff people. One of the customers had to help me talk to the bartender and tell him what I wanted but over all people here seemed nice. Yes the first bartender had a hard time understanding me since this is after all a Mexican bar with Mexican speaking bartenders. The second bartender that came on however did speak English was also very nice. After reading the other reviews I have to remind people this is a night club so after a certain hour drink prices are higher. My MGD was only 3.50 during happy hour but after happy hour was over the prices went up. The staff in general was very nice to me and I am sure I will go back. They had some band playing tonight but once the game was over I went home. The music I did hear was fun. The Tacos are GREAT

do you know Fado is pronounced fe'doe and not far'dou, which is kind of hard for a malaysian kid like me to remember... this place is huge, that means plenty of seatings for plenty of people. i feel the same way like some of the rateclubsers here felt...this place seems to be too clean and bright... then i realized this place is smoke-free! if you wanna smoke, you need to go to the rooftop deck overlooking the empty street. i heard the decor are all authentic from ireland.. the attention to detail is great.. but its smoke-free... so it kinda feels like disneyland.. other that that, they have the best poured guinness and lots of other beers and scotch whisky.. theres a full food menu to go along with the booze as well for those who are not on a booze-diet. and all these mean a wicked good old time with friends!

I've ventured up to Vanguard twice now from my comfy beach town here in San Diego and it's been totally worth it each time. First time was Paul Van Dyk and more recently was blown away by Adam Freeland. I'd mention to skip the VIP, been up there..and they play hip hop. So if you're there for a techno show downstairs..don't expect to actually hear it. Also, I somehow didnt know the smoking patio area existed the first time I went, so I guess I'll mention it's actually behind the mainstage..and very sexy. I'll def be back.
